During a recent visit to WFHR Studios on Mid-Day Magazine with host James J. Malouf, Wisconsin State Assembly District 72 Representative Scott Krug, provided an update for his constituents.

The Conversation

The interview opened with a discussion about how very unpolitical things are being tinged with negativity surrounding politics. Krug recounted a few stories and anecdotes about how polarized things have gotten. Krug hopes that some of those feelings can be set aside for the good of the state.

Committee Appointements

Malouf and Krug discussed the different committee assignments Krug has been selected for in this new session. Scott Krug is the Vice-Chair on the Committee on Campaigns and Elections. He also is on the Committee on Assembly Organization, and the Committee on Rules. Krug is on the Joint Committee on Information Policy and Technology, the Joint Committee on Legislative Organization. Lastly, he is the Co-Chair on the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties.

Committee Duties

While discussing some of the Committee’s duties Krug made mention of a few items of high importance. He touched on the controversial voter ID referendum which was on the ballot in November. The Assembly are currently working to codify it. As the Constitution already states that non-citizens cannot vote, Krug believes the conversation is a non-starter. He feels that codifying this is a logical step. To read more about the referendum you can read about it here. That Civic Media article was written before the November election, and covers the controversy.

Krug also briefly mentioned his beliefs about “Milwaukee counting ballots at 4 in the morning.” Though he did not go into detail about what will be addressed to solve this problem, he did state the hope to do so. If you would like to read further about some of the problems facing the Milwaukee Ballot counters during the most recent election you can read this Civic Media article.
