The 2024 Cultural Landscape Legacies annual tour will begin at the historic Battle of Wisconsin Heights site from the Black Hawk War of 1832 on Saturday, November 9, beginning at 9:00 AM. The site is located on STH 78 a short distance from Sauk City. In addition to the tour, the group will visit the Native American burial grounds on the property before traveling to Ferry Bluff for a hike to Cactus Bluff to view the landscape and the route of flight across the river taken by Black Hawk’s people. Following lunch in Spring Green, the group will tour the shot tower at Tower Hill State Park and discuss the role of Old Helena in the Black Hawk War. A Wisconsin State Park sticker will be required for the final stop. Reservations are required and the tour is limited to the first 15 people to sign up. The Ocooch Mountain Humane Society’s Paws Fur the Holidays will be held Saturday, November 9, from 10:00 until 2:00 at the Richland Center Community Center. This year’s Paws will feature a Sweet Walk, kid-friendly activities, a Bucket Raffle, a Silent Auction, a food stand, and much more. In addition, Santa will be on hand to hear Christmas wishes and for pictures.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers a free course to anyone who wants to learn English. The class runs from 7:00 to 8:00 PM every Thursday and from 11:00 Noon every Saturday at the Church located on Executive Lane in Richland Center. For more information, call (262) 893-3763. Dan Kouba and the Journeymen will be playing a Veterans Tribute Concert at the Richland Center City Auditorium Saturday, November 9. The show starts at 7:00 and doors will at 6:00. The cost of the show is $20 per person, and all tickets will be sold at the door. All proceeds will benefit local Veteran efforts. Refreshments will be sold at the event.

Knights of Columbus Council 3492 will be hosting Bingo Saturday, November 9, starting at 6:30 at the Richland Center Community Center. The progressive blackout jackpot will be $500 + 50% of net sales in 49 calls or less. It is also customer appreciation night.

Sunday, November 10

The Ithaca Lions Club will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser for Chris Koch. Pancakes with all the extras will be served from 7:00 to 12:30 at the Ithaca High School Commons Sunday, November 10. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for preschoolers. It will include a bake sale and auction. The Ash Creek and Willow Valley United Methodist Churches will hold a Birthday Bash Potluck and Celebration Sunday, November 10, at Noon in the Willow Valley church basement. It is a social gathering for the churches to collectively celebrate all birthdays within the congregation with cakes provided by Willow Valley’s chapter of United Women in Faith. Any attendees should bring a dish to pass at their table.

A benefit for GRACE in memory of Mary Kast will be held Sunday, November 10, from 12:30 to 3:30 at the Richland Center Community Center. The event is sponsored by Shawn’s Auto Repair & Performance.

Highland Historical Society will hold bingo Sunday, November 10, at 1:00 at the Highland Historical Society Building.

The Lone Rock 130/133 Bridge project has announced a river navigation update. The north channel will be closed to river navigation for bridge demolition operations and will remain closed through late November. The south channel is now open, though the water is shallow through the channel opening along the south riverbank. Please take caution, motorized boats are not recommended.
