Trump To Nominate Former Congressman Sean Duffy For Transportation Secretary

President-elect Donald Trump said Monday he will nominate former U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wis., to serve as head of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Trump announced the pick late Monday afternoon in a memo posted on his Truth Social social media site. He called Duffy a “respected voice and communicator.”

“Sean will use his experience and the relationships he has built over many years in Congress to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and usher in a golden age of travel,” Trump said in the statement.

Since leaving Congress, Duffy has worked as a contributor at Fox News and co-hosted the program “The Bottom Line” on the Fox Business Network since last year.

Duffy had represented Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District from 2011 to 2019. He resigned in the fall of 2019 to help care for his newborn daughter, who was born with a heart ailment.

Before serving in Congress, Duffy served as the Ashland County district attorney and was reelected four times.

Duffy will need to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate after the new congressional term begins.
