Kat  Griffith, who lived and worked in Latin America for a number of years, will present “Asylum: The Changing Face of Migration” in the Community Room of the Village of Gays Mills Community Commerce Center. She is currently a Fond du Lac County Board Supervisor and is committed to bipartisanship and respectful dialogue across political differences.

Her interest in immigration policy and asylum began in Boston in the 1980s translating written statements from Salvadoran refugees fleeing the Civil War. After moving to Ripon, she interpreted and advocated for Mexican and Central American immigrants for a decade. Her involvement has led her to spend time at a border camp and witness a deportation flight.

The event will be held Sunday, November 17, at 4:30. The program will close with a discussion of how to have a better national conversation about immigration. The event is hosted by the Kickapoo Valley Friends Meeting (Quakers) and the Gays Mills Public Library.
