Attorney General Josh Kaul endorses Jamie Wall in 30th Senate District race

GREEN BAY, WI – (WGBW) – Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul endorses Democrat Jamie Wall in the race for the 30th Senate District. He was joined in his endorsement by Dave Mahoney, the former President of the National Sheriffs’ Association.

With an emphasis on supporting local law enforcement officers, building safer communities, and protecting the pensions of those who served, Jamie Wall earned an endorsement from our state’s chief law officer, Attorney General Kaul.

Kaul said Wall has a dedication to public safety, working with law enforcement, and wants to address the fentanyl crisis in the state. 

“Having someone that understands we need a holistic approach. That includes collaboration. That includes bringing people together, and that includes meaningful investment,” Kaul said. “That’s what we need to make our communities safer.”

Former Dane County Sheriff Mahoney said he knows Wall will advocate for law enforcement and increased mental health services so police aren’t tasked with mental health interventions.

“I’m supporting Jamie Wall for state senator because I know that he’s committed to the men and women of this great profession and who’s a problem solver,” Mahoney said. “Who I know will work across the aisle with fellow legislators to ensure that public safety is a priority in our legislative branch of government.” 

Wall said public safety is important to him for several reasons, not the least of which is the fentanyl crisis in the state. 

“ The first time I talked to a younger grandmother, someone who was about my age, who was taking care of her granddaughter because her daughter had passed away from a fentanyl overdose. I thought, boy, that’s a terrible human tragedy,” Wall said “The second time it happened at somebody’s door, I thought, wow, this is, this is an issue that we need to get a handle on as a society. Because it’s blighting people’s lives and ending them. And it carries on into future generations.” 

Wall said he comes from a family of public safety people. His father worked as a prison guard at Green Bay Correctional Institute in Allouez for 34 years. 

“Some of the stories I heard from him were funny. Some of them were fairly stressful and lent me an appreciation for what public safety professionals, especially police, go through on a day-to-day basis.” Wall said.

Wall’s opponent is Allouez Village President Jim Rafter (R). The 30th Senate District covers the Greater Green Bay Area.
