This day and age many of us do our banking, pay our bills or do other activities online that requires personal information. To have quick access to that information it is usually stored on personal computers and mobile devices. When this is done it is important take steps to make sure you have good data protection, including an important step. Michelle Reinen (rye-nun) is with The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

When computers and mobile devices are not being used, at home or on-the-go, it is a wise idea to secure them.

Michelle Reinen also suggests backing up personal information in case it disappears from your computer device.

If you suspect your Information has been stolen or if you are a victim of a scam you can contact DATCP’s Consumer Protection Hotline by phone at 1-800-422-7128, by email at DATCP Hotline at wi dot gov or go to their website at datcp dot wi dot gov.
