MADISON, Wis. (Civic Media) — The McCain Institute and the University of Wisconsin are set to co-host a two-day event series featuring young democracy activists from around the world.

“The Frontlines of Democracy: Stories from a New Generation of Leaders” will take place on Oct. 29 in Madison and Oct. 30 in Milwaukee. The events will showcase young leaders sharing their experiences in the global fight for freedom and human rights.

Speakers include Sunny Cheung from Hong Kong, Hager Eissa from Sudan, Dr. Mariia Levchenko from Ukraine, and Takudzwa Ngadziore, a member of parliament from Zimbabwe.

The series, organized in partnership with the Tommy G. Thompson Center for Public Leadership and the Wisconsin Institute for Citizenship & Civil Dialogue, wraps up a fall program of democracy-focused events by the McCain Institute.

Both events begin at 6:30 p.m. CT, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for a reception. The Madison event will be held at the UW–Madison Fluno Center, while the Milwaukee event will take place at the UWM Union.

The McCain Institute, a nonpartisan think tank established in 2012, aims to promote democracy, human dignity, and global security.
