Performances, celebrities, US Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, and VP Kamala Harris formally accepts the Presidential nomination

It’s the final night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago. And it will culminate with Vice President Kamala Harris accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for president. But expect a list of other speakers and performances, similar to what has been happening each night of the convention.

Why are many women wearing white during the final night of the DNC?

Tonight’s coverage will be led by News Director Terry Bell, along with hosts Maggie Daun, Todd Allbaugh, Dan Shafer, and Pat Kreitlow. A few of the expected guests includes Sec of State Sarah Godlewski, political analyst Matt Rothschild, and more. Listen live starting at 6pm!

Major artists and celebrity appearances are already scheduled throughout the night, with some speculation still swirling about any surprise attendees. P!nk is confirmed as a performer and has already been spotted during a sound check. The Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks, are also expected to be on stage to lead the singing of the National Anthem.

As for what Harris will be sharing, according to NBC News, she made a few trips to Howard University in Washington, D.C. for speech writing sessions to prepare for her address. And it is reported she finished tweaking the speech Thursday morning.

Here are some of the other featured speakers:

  • Interior secretary Deb Haaland
  • Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts
  • Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin
  • Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona
  • Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan
  • Gov. Roy Cooper of North Carolina (Note: Cooper, Whitmer, and Kelly were all considered possible VP picks for Harris)
  • Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois (Note: a Republican who broke with his party on impeaching former President Donald Trump in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol)
  • Rep. Maxwell Frost of Florida (Note: the first Gen Z member of Congress)
  • Former Rep. Gabby Giffords of Arizona (Note: Sen. Kelly’s wife, gun violence survivor and advocate)

You may also notice many of the women attending the final night of the DNC are wearing white. It is meant to show alignment with suffragettes, more than a century after women won the right to vote.

The final night of the DNC follows Minnesota Governor Tim Walz accepting the VP nomination Wednesday night. Walz, fired up the crowd while asking voters to choose a better future at the ballot box.
