Spencer Young shares the inspiration behind his beloved Packers murals and why there’s a legacy driving his art

While driving near Lambeau Field in Green Bay, you can’t help but notice the vibrant paintings that adorn the fences along Lombardi Avenue. This iconic fence art features Packers QB Jordan Love and has included former stars like Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Reggie White, and even actors who have shown their appreciation for Green Bay. The art is now as much a part of the game day experience as the game itself. But have you ever wondered about the artist behind these striking images?

Meet Spencer Young, the creative force behind many of these beloved murals. Through his company, Forever Young Designs, he has not only painted his way into the hearts of Packers fans but also carried on a family legacy that runs deep.

It’s a tremendous honor to be part of such a cherished tradition. I can’t let the fans down, so I go all out every year.

“I wanted to incorporate my last name,” Young says. “My parents are the most hardworking people you would ever meet, and they instilled in me a great work ethic and a desire to live a good life. I wanted to weave that philosophy into my business and also honor that legacy. So, I thought, what better name than ‘Forever Young’ to keep that tradition alive?”

Young’s love for art is rooted in his childhood memories, particularly those shared with his grandfather.

“Art has always been a staple in my life,” he recalls. “My grandpa was a rustic painter; he would paint on saw blades and birdhouses. I remember just watching him paint, wanting to join in. It was always a friendly rivalry between us. In middle school, he finally said, ‘I can’t draw with you anymore—you’re better than me.’ But I never did it for the competition. I just enjoyed painting and drawing with him. He paved the way for my career and what I’m doing now.”

As for seeing his work near Lambeau Field, Young says, “It’s so surreal. My grandpa was the biggest Packers fan, and he’s grinning ear to ear on a cloud somewhere, knowing his grandson painted that fence. It’s a tremendous honor to be part of such a cherished tradition. I can’t let the fans down, so I go all out every year.”

What’s next for Young?

“We’ve got some stuff in the works,” he reveals. “The iconic Packers fence that I usually paint—this will be my 10th season. And the day before the home opener, on September 14th, look for me. I’ll be out there all day, unveiling a new theme for that fence.”

Young isn’t only celebrating the Packers, but also ensuring his family’s legacy remains forever young, just like the tradition he continues, with every brushstroke.
