Two Western Wisconsin United Way organizations announced the completion of a merger, creating United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys.
According to a press release, the United Way of St. Croix Valley and Dunn County United Way will officially begin operations as a combined organization on July 1. The new United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys will serve communities in Burnett, Dunn, Pierce, Polk and St. Croix counties.
Executive Director of the merged organizations, Steve McCarthy, said “By combining our efforts, we can better serve out communities, mobilize resources, and create lasting solutions to the challenges facing our region. We look forward to strengthening United Way’s presence in Dunn County.”
United Way is one of the largest privately funded charities in the world, with a presence in nearly every community in the United States and in 37 other countries and territories. Their efforts seek to address the specific challenges facing their local communities through partnerships with private, public, and other nonprofit organizations.
Officials say the merger will help United Way St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys streamline their western Wisconsin operations and maximize the impact of the donations they receive. It will also give the organizations more options to use the strengths and expertise of members from each individual entity to address problems on a wider scale.
Todd Sherman, Board President of the merged organizations, said “We believe that by uniting our resources and expertise, we can make an even greater difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout the St. Croix and Red Cedar Valleys.”
The organization plans to honor all of the existing commitments and partnerships that were established by United Way St. Croix Valley and Dunn County United Way individually.
