MENASHA, WI (WISS & WGBW) – As part of the city’s sesquicentennial, Celebrate Menasha is a festival weekend of carnival rides, drone shows, entertainment, food trucks, and a “Row Your Boat” music event called Paddle the Canal.
George Davis from the Menasha Landmarks Commission says the Paddle the Canal will feature kayaks and other boats following a pontoon boat with Green Day tribute band, Brainstewed.
“It’s more of a float, from one end to the other,” said Davis, “with music playing at the beginning and the end. And is a good time for people to get out and enjoy the water in Menasha.”
Participants will leave the Jefferson Park boat launch at 3:00 p.m. to Paddle the Canal. Davis said if you have your own boat or kayak, the event is free. If you’d like to rent a boat Fox River Kayaking Company will delivera kayak to Jefferson Park and pick it up at the end.
A bus shuttle will be available to take participants from the endpoint at the Menasha Lock back to Jefferson Park.
Davis said Menasha has been growing and is promoting itself more.
“There’s a real emphasis with ‘Your Place on the Water,’ and taking advantage of Lake Winnebago, Little Lake Butte de Morts, the canal in between.” Davis said, “It’s a great place for all kinds of summer activity.”
Celebrate Menasha is a free event. It is two days of fun starting tonight and continuing through Saturday. Follow the links for a listing of events and lineups.
