ALLOUEZ, WI – (WISS & WGBW) – Allouez Village President Jim Rafter announces his candidacy for the newly drawn Senate District 30.

Rafter, a Republican, says he’s been a proactive advocate for the community and has developed effective partnerships with leaders from both political parties. Voters elected him to the Allouez Village Board of Trustees in 2014. He spent eight of his 10 years on the board as the village president.

In a statement released Wednesday, Rafter said he has advocated for the Allouez community and the Brown County area. He has been vocal on community issues such as the closure of the Green Bay Correctional Institution.

He says he is running to continue his work in public service and advocacy and wants to advance the interests and well-being of the residents of the 30th State Senate District.

Business consultant Jamie Wall, Democrat, has also announced his candidacy for Senate District 30. The district includes the City of De Pere, almost all of the City of Green Bay, the Villages of Allouez, Ashwaubenon, and Bellevue, and parts of the Townships of Ledgeview and Rockland.

Press release:

After ten years of service on the Allouez Village Board of Trustees, with eight of those years as its President, Jim Rafter has officially announced his candidacy for the Wisconsin State Senate in District 30. During his tenure, Rafter has been a proactive advocate for Allouez residents and businesses and the needs of the Brown County area, taking leadership roles on significant community issues, such as the closure of Green Bay Correctional Institution, and developing effective partnerships with leaders of neighboring municipalities, Brown County elected officials, and state representatives from both political parties.
