North Central Wisconsin (WXCO, WFHR, WIRI) – Bob Pahmeier announced his candidacy on April 8th, declaring his run for the 71st State Assembly District. Bob is a longtime resident of Central Wisconsin. He and his wife have two children and they’ve lived in the Stevens Point and Plover area for over 25 years. Bob is an Army veteran and worked for 26 years in Federal Law Enforcement. According to his website, Bob’s recent retirement gives him the opportunity to fully dedicate himself to serving as the District’s Assembly Representative. Bob also has a Facebook page.

71st Assembly District

The newly drawn 71st Assembly District now covers parts of Portage and Adams Counties. This includes the City of Stevens Point and the Village of Plover. The district extends as far east as the Village of Amherst and south into Adams County to Badger Avenue. The western edge stops at the Wood County line and the northern edge at US Highway 10. You can see the full map here. Katrina Shankland has represented the district since 2012. Shankland is now running to unseat Rep. Derrick Van Orden in the 3rd congressional district.

Who else is running?

According to WisPolitics, two other people have announced they are running for the 71st Assembly District. These include William Scheder (D-Stevens Point) and Vincent Miresse (D-Stevens Point). They list Robert Pahmeier as (R-Plover). The district performance is listed at 55.9% Democratic. Will Scheder recently won a seat on the Stevens Point School Board. Vincent Miresse won reelection to the Portage County Board of Supervisors, District 1. Bob Pahmeier lost the Spring Primary election for County Supervisor District 17.
