Other candidates who have declared they are running for the 18th State Senate District are Democrats Kristin Alfheim of Appleton, Blong Yang of Appleton, and Joseph Carman of Appleton.
Appleton, WI. – Dr. Anthony Phillips, a Republican, today announced his candidacy for Wisconsin’s 18th State Senate District
A former cancer physician and President of Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology (FVHO) in Appleton and Neenah, Phillips said the Fox Valley and Wisconsin will thrive if we unleash the private sector to grow, give entrepreneurs and families the freedom to pursue their dreams, and promote a culture of “a hand up, not a hand out.”
The medical doctor’s announcement comes in the wake of Gov. Evers veto of a bill that would have prevented biological males from competing in biological females’ sports.
“Biological boys playing girls sports, being in girls locker rooms, isn’t common sense, it is nonsense. I strongly disagree with his veto,” said Dr. Phillips.
“We need real world experience and leadership in Madison. I’ve worked to provide supportive care and advanced medical treatments to patients in need, as well as create good-paying jobs. I’ll fight to protect parents’ voice in education, ensure our liberties are not infringed upon, and fully fund our police departments to help keep Fox Valley families safe,” Dr. Phillips said.
A proud Wisconsin Badger, Tony earned his undergraduate degree and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He first served as a cancer physician in Janesville before moving in 1999 to Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology (FVHO) in Appleton and Neenah. Dr. Phillips then became the Medical Director leading more than 20 providers for Theda Care Oncology. In late 2020 he transitioned to part-time clinical practice with a plan now to fully retire April 2024 to focus on becoming the next state senator of the 18th District of Wisconsin.
