Flood water rising across Southeast Wisconsin

Milwaukee, Wis (Civic Media) – As the region continues to experience heavy snow and rain, most rivers are expected to continue rising over the next several days, with some reaching minor or moderate flood stages. The entire region is impacted, with alerts and warnings in Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha Counties.

According to the latest weather reports, the flooding situation is expected to persist through the weekend and into early next week. People in flood-prone areas are advised to monitor the situation closely and be prepared to take necessary precautions if needed.

Tonight, there is a 30% chance of rain, possibly mixing with snow after 8 pm, before gradually tapering off. Tomorrow, the weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy, with a high near 43 degrees. Saturday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 48 degrees. On Sunday, however rain is expected to return, with new precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.

Fox River in Burlington Reaches Minor Flood Stage

The Fox River in Burlington is currently experiencing minor flooding. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 11.7 feet just after midnight tonight, before falling below flood stage on Sunday evening. At 11.5 feet, floodwaters are already into Riverside Park in Burlington, and a portion of Brever Road about 4 miles south of Burlington is also covered by floodwaters.

Root River Canal in Raymond Sees Minor Flooding

The Root River Canal in Raymond, affecting Racine County, is currently experiencing minor flooding. The river stage was at 9.1 feet as of 8:00AM on Thursday, with floodwaters covering a baseball diamond near 6 Mile Road and flooding lowland and agricultural land. The river is expected to fall below flood stage later this morning and continue dropping to 3.4 feet by Thursday, April 11.

Fox River Near New Munster Reaches Moderate Flood Stage

The Fox River near New Munster, affecting Kenosha County, is currently experiencing moderate flooding. The river stage was at 13.1 feet as of 9:00AM on Thursday, with floodwaters reaching the lower levels of some homes in the Town of Wheatland and Village of Salem Lakes areas along Riverside Drive and Shorewood Drive. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.4 feet tomorrow morning before falling below flood stage on Thursday, April 11.

Fox River in Waukesha Sees Minor Flooding

The Fox River in Waukesha is currently experiencing minor flooding. The river stage was at 6.3 feet as of 9:00AM on Thursday, with minor lowland flooding in the Waukesha area. The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Saturday morning and continue dropping to 4.9 feet by Thursday, April 11.

Residents in the flooded areas are advised to avoid driving through flooded roads, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.
