Milwaukee, WI (Civic Media) – In a recent conversation on The Earl Ingram Show, Mayor Cavalier Johnson and host Earl Ingram delved into the significance of Black History Month and the ongoing fight for racial equality and civil rights. The mayor also came out strongly for the reelection of Joe Biden, calling the president a godsend to Milwaukee, pointing to his support of the American Rescue Plan Act funds. Johnson said without federal help, cops, firefighters, librarians, and more city employees would no longer have jobs.

Mayor Johnson began by acknowledging the contributions of Black leaders throughout history, emphasizing the need to honor their efforts by continuing the fight for equality. He urged listeners to engage and vote in the upcoming presidential race, stressing the progress made under President Joe Biden’s administration.

The mayor praised President Biden for his commitment to job creation, the reduction of black unemployment rates, and investments in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). He also highlighted the appointment of prominent Black voices to key positions, such as Lloyd Austin as Secretary of Defense and Kamala Harris as Vice President.

Ingram acknowledged Mayor Johnson as the first black mayor in the city of Milwaukee, emphasizing the correlation between his appointment and President Biden’s actions. The conversation also touched on the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in addressing current struggles faced by marginalized communities.

The discussion expanded to include topics such as abortion rights, job creation, infrastructure investment, and the need for bipartisanship. Mayor Johnson emphasized the stark contrast between President Biden’s policies and those of former President Donald Trump.

The conversation concluded with a focus on the crucial role of resources and support in empowering communities across Wisconsin and the United States. Mayor Johnson stressed the importance of voting and continuing on the path of progress to ensure a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
