WISCONSIN (Civic Media) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is waiving fees for state park admission, trial passes and fishing licenses for its Free Fun Weekend June 3-4.

The free admission is good for anyone, including non-Wisconsin residents.

In its 11th year, the Free Fun Weekend is designed to get people out to enjoy one of the state parks, forests, trails or bodies of water.

“Free Fun Weekend is always a great opportunity for the DNR property crews to welcome summer visitors back,” Steve Schmelzer, DNR Bureau Director of Parks and Recreation Management, said. “If you’ve never visited a state park, forest, trail or recreation area, this is the perfect weekend to find your outdoor adventure.”

In addition to free admission to the different parks or forests, fishing licenses are waived for all of Wisconsin’s waters.

“If you haven’t fished in a while or never fished Free Fun Weekend is a great chance to give it a try,” Justine Hasz, DNR Bureau Director of Fisheries Management, said. “If you don’t have any fishing gear, no problem. You can check out our tackle loaner sites or join one of the many free events over the weekend, and enjoy your time in Wisconsin’s great outdoors.”
