AMERY, Wis. (WLAK) – Amery High School junior Koy Hopke announced his college decision Monday.
Hopke, a three-time state champion in wrestling, posted on social media Monday that he will attend Minnesota.
During Hopke’s high school wrestling career, he has won three state titles at 220 pounds, going undefeated with a record of 129-0. Next winter, he will look to become the 27th wrestler in Wisconsin history to win four state individual wrestling championships.
In addition to his WIAA titles, Hopke won a 2022 U17 World Title as a heavyweight. FloWrestling.com rated Hopke as the #4 Class of 2024 wrestling recruit in the nation and #2 heavyweight.
Hopke’s brother, Kale, won a state wrestling title at Amery and is currently a pitcher for Division 1 North Dakota State.
Koy is also a football player at Amery High School. As a junior, he was named co-defensive player of the year in the Middle Border Conference as an inside linebacker, while also rushing for over 1,200 yards as a running back on offense, second in the conference.
