Parents know that raising a baby is one of life's greatest challenges. While the parenting books can help, strong early childhood education is an all-hands-on-deck process. The Family Resource Center of St. Croix Valley offers parent education and family support at no cost so that families can thrive together. They host welcome baby hospital visits, home visits, postitive parenting programs, early childhood education and more. Fresh Harvest Pantry
The Fresh Harvest Pantry's mission is simple: assist students, families and individuals experiencing food insecurity, because one cannot thrive or grow on an empty stomach. Nearly one-third of St. Croix County residents live below the poverty threshold, and with the high costs of living, many families are barely scraping by. But the shame or perception of food shelters blocks some families from accepting assistance. That's why the Hudson Area Backpack & Food Programs help to create a shame-free way for families to access meals through Hudson Schools alongside curbside pickup and home delivery for over 39,000 people.
Northwoods Homeless Shelters
Since its creation in 1998, the Northwoods Homeless Shelters has provided 58,904 shelter nights to homeless individuals in Polk County. They operate three units of emergency shelter to those seeking refuge in Wisconsin's brutal weather. They extend their services beyond just emergency housing to transitional housing, case management, utility assistance, school supply donations and more.
