The Family Center

The Family Center

Where do you go when your home is no longer safe? The Wisconsin Rapids Family Center provides a safe place for individuals and families who are in crisis as a result of domestic violence. Their secure shelter is open 24/7 for those who need an opportunity to regain strength and control. They also provide support groups and advocate through criminal justice and legal advocacy during court proceedings. The staff members have been regular guests on WFHR to share their message and to talk about the real statistics of domestic violence and the services that they provide to our community.

South Wood County Humane Society

South Wood County Humane Society

Many of our furry friends come from an animal shelter where they were saved from cold nights on the street or hungry days in the hot sun. The South Wood County Humane Society has hosted around 800 stray and unwanted animals, giving them the medical care, warmth and housing they need to survive and thrive. They then list these lovable animals up for adoption so that they can find their forever home in our community. They continue the mission outside of the shelter with outreach and education, resources to report animal cruelty and guides for new pet owners.

FOCUS Food Pantry

FOCUS Food Pantry

The FOCUS Food Pantry began feeding our community in 1975 as an emergency pantry. Today, they provide food, hygeine products and educational services to over 6,300 households and nearly 18,500 people. As the combined force of three area food pantries, FOCUS also serves freshly cooked meals and provides children a judgement-free way to stay fed while they're away from school on the weekends. From volunteering to donation, giving with FOCUS is the strongest resource for our community to fight food insecurity
