Mike McCabe
Permission To Speak: In Comedy, And By The People
Terry Bell enlightens the guys at the start of hour two to today's Big Story: Hurricane Milton, making landfall later today. We chat with Paul Mecurio, a comedian who's taking his show on the road, and coming to Milwaukee on the 19th. They talk about doing standup with the audience, working with Frank Oz, and his wild interview with Paul McCartney. Later, we welcome in Mike McCabe as we do every Wednesday, to talk about his latest blog piece: a warning about yet another Wisconsin constitutional amendment, aimed at curbing voting access.

Civic Media Spotlight for August 24th & 25th (Hour 1)
To begin this week's Civic Media Spotlight, Jane, Greg and Calvin welcome Matt Randolph aka Mr. Global to the show. He has over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Currently, he has found his audience on social media, specifically TikTok breaking down the truths, the lies and the busting the myths on all things energy.
Then, on Maino & the Mayor, Burkel's One Block Over is hosting an event this Saturday with the organization "As You Were". The group connects with veterans and writes songs about their experiences. We were joined by James Fitzgerald, James Goodletson, who is a veteran, and singer/songwriter Jason Sever. Jason shares two great songs that he's written and recorded. If you listen to these songs and don't feel moved, we're not sure you even have a pulse.
UpNorthNews Radio hears from three women attending the Democratic convention on behalf of their home counties up north. We’ll discuss the impact of new legislative maps that undo years of Republican cheating and we’ll assess a proposal from GOP Congressman Tom Tiffany to turn the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore into a national park. True to form, Tiffany’s proposal appears meant to benefit developers, not our natural resources.
Finally, on the John & Gordy Show, Mike McCabe joins the show to discuss the upcoming move to BRT in Madison and the show remembers Phil Donahue who passed away this week.

Mike McCabe on Vertical Thinking, Wisconsin Progress, and Socialism
Author and former Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Mike McCabe joins John Peterson to talk about concepts from Mike's book Blue Jean Nation and how those concepts apply to today's problems.

Down On Main Street
In hour two, John welcomes in Richard Trent (and entourage!) from the Main Street Alliance, to talk about uplifting small and local businesses in a world of big box stores and online shopping. We check in with Brittney Merlot and hear about the grand weather we have ahead, and later welcome in Mike McCabe as we do every week. He and John discuss Wisconsin's former glory as a policy innovator, why we've drifted from that goal of innovation, and the key to engaging everyone in shaping the future for the better.
