Harvey Kaye
The American Psyche- it’s not covered (Hour 2)
Our favorite Delano Democrat (FDR Democrat, Dom's trying it out), and favorite socialist, Harvey Kaye joins us. Harvey is Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and an avid labor advocate. He sees a path for Democrats to start winning races again, but it will require inviting labor back to the table with a hearty welcome. Critical issues face Americans today that require government intervention. Issues like record wealth inequality. And issues like a healthcare system that does NOT work for the majority of people.

Dems, get your democratic act together!(Hour 2)
Our favorite socialist and FDR Democrat (yes you can be both!) Harvey Kaye, joins us. Harvey is Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and a great democratic thinker. With President-elect Trump in line to be inaugurated on January 20th, it's time for Democrats to get their acts together. In Wisconsin, we now see some benefits of banding together in solidarity for democracy and labor rights. A Dane County Judge today ruled Act 10, which devastated public sector organizations, unconstitutional. For over a decade, Act 10 hamstrung unions and limited worker's rights in this state. Now, a chance to start again.
At the bottom of the hour, we return to the matters of pardons and presidential authority. Yes, Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter over the weekend. We look back on some of Trump's late-term pardons of close allies such as Paul Manafort and Roger Stone.

Another gloomy day… so what’s next? (Hour 2)
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite socialist joins us for a half hour. It's another gloomy day here for justice as Jack Smith files to DISMISS both federal cases against Donald Trump. Will we ever see justice for our country? And what can we do to move on from here?
To start, Harvey strongly advocates for Democrats to undergo some critical self-evaluation leading us back to FDR style economic policies. Harvey is an expert on the matter, and you can read his work in article OR COMIC form. In odd news, Trump's pick for Secretary of Labor appears to be extremely labor-friendly. Could this actually help American workers? Or is it a ploy to peel off working class voters from Democrats? By the way, if you go ahead and follow Harvey's Bluesky with that link and drop him a note saying you heard him on The Dom Salvia Show, he'll follow you back!

Let’s Get Radical (Hour 1)
Happy Monday! To welcome this new week, Eric Hovde finally concedes the Senate race to Tammy Baldwin. Despite continuing to push grievances, he at least concedes that Baldwin got more votes than he did!
Then our favorite socialist joins us. Harvey J. Kaye is Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. And he thinks we should be embracing getting more radical. Specifically, let's be economically radical. Harvey says he hopes he never hears another Democratic candidate calling themselves a capitalist, rather he wants them to align with FDR's Democratic party.

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Nov 16
What a week! Catch up on our best segments as we process our electoral bruises and look to what's next.
First, what the hell happened last week??? From Monday's second hour, we catch up with our friend and favorite Democratic Socialist, Harvey Kaye. Did the Democrats forget to be the party that COMBATS inequality?
Then, from Tuesday's first hour, a chat with Maggie Daun as she works a bit of overtime. Her analysis of the election: too many people rightly feeling existential angst. And we shouldn't have to live in that.
Looking ahead with a bit of dread, listen to part of Wednesday's first hour as Dom talks with Dr. Tim Slekar of Civic Media's BustED Pencils. What do we need to watch for from this incoming administration on education? Well, a whole hell of a lot, and nothing at all...
Finally, back to Tuesday's first hour for Dan Shafer- of The Recombobulation Area- shares his top 10 takeaways from the election. Find Dan at his substack or Civic Media podcast!

The Making of a Democracy (Hour 2)
Harvey J. Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, joins Dom to break down what the hell happened on Tuesday. Did Democrats abandon the working class people whose votes they needed as argued by Bernie Sanders? Or did Harris' roadtripping with Liz Cheney hurt more than it helped? And more crucial than any of these questions: what do we do now? How does the Democratic party reorganize and act to protect the groups who will be vulnerable to attack and further marginalization in this new administration?

Common Sense (Hour 2)
Harvey J. Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, joins Dom at the top of the hour. Harvey knows history. And he knows Common Sense. As in, the pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. Not as in whatever the hell Trump was citing as Common Sense in his platform... Please compare that platform with Harris', for a bit more of what we all thought to be common sense initiatives- backed by plans to make it happen!
A regular caller who consumes far too much disinformation for his health directs us to Virginia's voter registration. U.S. District Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles ruled today that the state of Virginia needed to reinstate 1600 registered voters purged from their lists illegally for suspicion of non-citizen status. Judge Giles ruled that the systemic purge occurred after the state's 90-day pre-election window for such group removals from registrations. In this window, Judge Giles rules that each case must be considered individually.

For Some Context and Clarity: A Sense of History (Hour 2)
Picking up the thread of socialism from the first hour, Dom chats with Dr. Harvey Kaye and John Nichols. Harvey J. Kaye is Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. John is Associate Editor at Cap Times and National Affairs Correspondent at The Nation. Two men with strong knowledge of the history and current state of political affairs in this country.
We talk about the truly remarkable state of this current election. As John writes, Harris presents like a Lincoln-era Republican, and as we all see, Trump espouses eugenics. If that last linked article doesn't spell it out clearly enough for you, you may prefer this one. And then there are the unions! Teamsters' President, Sean O'Brien lambasts the Biden administration for not supporting unions enough... Ignoring the vital protection of pensions accomplished with the Butch Lewis Act.

Did anyone vet this candidate? ANYONE??? (Hour 1)
Last week, Dom began addressing the horrifying comments and behaviors attributed to Lt. Governor Mark Robinson of North Carolina, who is now running for Governor of that state. At the top of the hour, Dom and Producer Jess break down some updates on this election in NC. Over the weekend, Robinson's campaign experienced a staff exodus. Perhaps they fled after Robinson declined several offers for professional tech assistance in getting to the bottom of just WHO made those obscene comments on a porn site attributed to Mark... Dom also takes a stroll through the worst things Robinson has said- last updated in March of this year.
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, joins Dom at the half hour to continue the conversation.
