Monday Morning Meanderings Sans Maino

Maino is taking time to "see the leaves" in the U.P. Shannon Cohen from the New Community Shelter sits in with Jim. The morning starts by Jim complaining that he didn't win on the game yesterday. Primarily because the Packers didn't go for a few extra points. Poor Jim. The conversation leans into supper clubs and the upcoming NFL draft. Brittney Merlot joins to let us know the next few days will be cooler, but next weekend looks like it will be near 70 both days. She also lets us know that this week is probably peak week for checking out the fall foliage in Northern Wisconsin. Next week looks like the peak for Green Bay and the Fox Valley.

The choice for national security is clear: Kamala Harris (Hour 1)

Olivia Troye is a national security expert and lifelong Republican who served in the George W. Bush and Trump administrations. Olivia served in the Trump's administration directly under VP Pence as the Homeland Security and Counterterrorism advisor. She observed how Trump responded to domestic disasters. As a result, she left the administration and will be voting for Kamala Harris in this election. She speaks with Maggie about why she's endorsing Harris as the only viable candidate for this great nation's security.

Civic Media's meteorologist Brittany Merlot joins Maggie for an update on Milton. The hurricane swept across Florida yesterday and this morning, leaving devastation. While there are many good causes that are working to mediate the disaster, Maggie recommends Charity Navigator, Guidestar, and Volunteer Florida as starting points to choose your charitable donations.

And the Mayor announces that the current hurricane is named after his dog. The Civic Media Meteorologist Brittney Merlot joins the guys to discuss the weather for the week ahead. She gives us some new details on the damage from Hurricane Helene and takes a quick look at Milton. Then, she discusses a harrowing experience when she got caught in a wildfire. She and Jim discussed the leafing in Northern Wisconsin, and she let us know we'll have another 80-degree day coming up this Friday.
