Trump’s Pardon Parade and the Battle of Buffets (Hour 2)

May 28, 2025

Todd Allbaugh dives into Trump's controversial pardons, spotlighting Scott Jenkins, a former Virginia sheriff convicted of bribery and fraud, who got a last-minute pardon from Trump. Allbaugh questions the ethics behind such pardons, suggesting a pay-to-play scheme. The episode also debates the culinary conundrum: what's worse, a la carte menus or buffets? Listeners weigh in on the choice between pricey, exclusive dishes and the unpredictable quality of buffets. Amidst the banter, the episode touches on international student visa issues and celebrates Badger basketball's John Blackwell returning to school, bringing a hopeful note to the mix.

Todd Allbaugh dives into Wisconsin's political landscape, discussing the contentious state budget battle with guests Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson. They debate the implications of potential GOP budget cuts on Medicaid and public education. Meanwhile, Todd shares his personal health update after an MRI reveals a 'fatty liver,' prompting a light-hearted yet informative consultation with Dr. Kristen Lyrely on-air. As the episode unfolds, the conversation shifts to national politics with Trygve, touching on Trump’s legislative moves and Elon Musk’s latest remarks. Supporting Veterans At Kopke’s Greenhouse (Hour 1)

May 21, 2025

Today, Todd broadcasts live from Kopke’s Greenhouse just outside of Oregon, Wisconsin! The founder and owner, Gordy Kopke, has made a name for himself by selling the highest quality products and providing excellent customer service. His business gets a substantial amount of their electricity from four solar panel arrays, and they are dedicated to giving back to the community in meaningful ways. Every year, they run a planter auction to support our veterans through Badger Honor Flight

We kick off the show with our usual Wednesday guests, Pat Kreitlow of Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project. After a brief recap of the day’s political news, they share their remembrances for Memorial Day.

At the bottom of the hour, Todd is joined by Gordy Kopke himself to share some of the history of Kopke’s Greenhouse and this weekend’s fundraiser. If you can’t make it to the event and still want to support Badger Honor Flight this Sunday, you can call 608-835-7569 to either bid over the phone or make a direct credit card donation.

Civic Media is proud to have Kopke’s Greenhouse as a sponsor. Gordy and his company are part of what makes Wisconsin great.

Trump Is Bringing In A Trojan Horse (Hour 1)

May 14, 2025

This Wednesday, Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project joins us to talk about the latest national news, as well as ways to find hope in today’s crazy world.

Not only is President Trump’s acceptance of a $400 million Qatari jet illegal and unconstitutional, it is incredibly dangerous. This plane is not built to the security and safety standards required of Air Force One, and it is likely full of listening devices.

At the end of the hour, Trygve gives us some reminders on how to have productive discussions when we have political disagreements.

Trump’s Crypto Grift Is Indeed A Grift (Hour 2)

May 7, 2025

Trygve Olson sticks around into our second hour as Todd asks us What’s Worse: snakes or skunks? We take your calls and texts!

At the bottom of the hour, Todd moves on to a topic he loves dearly: cryptocurrency. (That was sarcasm.) Remember Donald Trump’s “meme coin” that debuted this January? Well, according to NBC, a select 58 individuals have made tens of millions of dollars while 764,000 people have lost money.

Adams County Attempts To Overturn An Election (Hour 1)

May 7, 2025

It took a few tries, but we have finally reunited Pat Kreitlow of the conveniently-named morning drive time radio program Mornings with Pat Kreitlow and Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project at our new time of 2-4 pm.

Right off the bat, Pat shares some news from the Capitol building in Madison. A hearing had to be adjourned due to disruptive behavior from Democrats. Pat, Todd, and Trygve agree that some decorum should be maintained, but some of our texters disagree.

In other Wisconsin news, according to WPR, the Adams County Board is attempting to overturn a legitimate election for their treasurer.

Evers vs. Trump: Showdown in Wisconsin

May 2, 2025

Governor Tony Evers stands firm against the Trump administration's Tom Holman, who criticized Evers' guidance to state employees on handling ICE agents. Evers, labeled as 'courageous' by many, rebuffs Holman, asserting he follows the law. Meanwhile, Wisconsin Republican Rep. Callahan calls for Evers' arrest, echoing Trump's aggressive tactics. Todd, along with guest Trygve Olson of the Lincoln Project, dissect the implications on democracy, highlighting a global autocratic vs. democratic battle. Amidst this chaos, the episode questions if America is veering towards autocracy, urging listeners to defend democratic values.

The Ongoing Legacy of Saturday Night Live (Hour 2)

April 23, 2025

This afternoon, Trygve Olson sticks around as Todd asks us What’s Worse: shaving or flossing? Neither are particularly enjoyable chores for most of us, so we take your calls and texts on which one stings more.

At the bottom of the hour, Matt Solomon of Cracked.com joins us to weigh in on the 50th season of Saturday Night Live. He walks through how the show compares to older seasons and what its future may look like in the age of social media.

How Joe Zepecki Wants To Lead WI Democrats (Hour 1)

April 23, 2025

Today is our first show at our new time of 2-4 pm! Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project follows us into the mid-afternoon to share his unique perspective on the news of the day. Like Todd, he is a native Wisconsinite and former Republican. Unlike Todd, Trygve has worked in politics at all levels around the world, including presidential campaigns and battling authoritarianism in Eastern Europe. We ask Trygve about the developments of the Trump administration’s complete disregard of due process and rule of law.

At the bottom of the hour, we are visited by Democratic political operative Joe Zepecki of Zepecki Communications. Ben Wikler recently announced that he will not run for reelection as Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. Now, Zepecki is running to carry on the torch. He talks with Todd and Trygve about the ways he plans to build on Wikler’s legacy of success in our state.

United Wisconsin: What Is Fusion Voting? (Hour 1)

April 16, 2025

This Wednesday, Trygve Olson of The Lincoln Project joins us via phone to share his perspective on President Trump’s deportations without due process. As more information becomes public, things are looking even worse for the rule of law in our country.

At the bottom of the hour, we talk with some folks from United Wisconsin about fusion voting. Former Republican State Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz and former Democratic Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney come from very different political backgrounds, but they believe that Wisconsinites have more in common than we may realize. Much like ranked choice, fusion voting is a way to raise up less politically extreme candidates.

Visit unitedwisconsin.org to learn more about how you can help bridge the political divides in our state.
