Farmer’s Market Kickoff (Hour 1)

May 21, 2025

Jim and John talk about Meditation and National Tea Day before diving into a discussion about Brett Favre's controversial documentary on Netflix, which they critique for lacking new insights and not balancing Favre's negative press with his charitable acts. Nostalgia hits with talk of classic TV shows like Cheers and the comedic genius of Leslie Nielsen. Cheese Curd Nick joins to preview his food offerings at the Farmer's Market on Broadway. The market runs every Wednesday night from 3-8pm.

Flexing Muscles and Mulling Over the Draft

April 30, 2025

A bodybuilding competition comes to Green Bay on Saturday. Paul Hadler, Derrick Bauswell, and Molly Tynan join the guys to talk about the event, and also their stories of getting into competition. This natural bodybuilding event emphasizes drug-free competition, with polygraph testing ensuring fairness. Jim and John both ask for tips on losing weight and building muscle mass. Eat well, and work hard in the gym. No revelations there! Then Nick Slupski rejoins to talk more about the draft. Listeners and business owners chime in with their thoughts and experiences last week. With mixed reviews on financial outcomes, the conversation touches on planning pitfalls and community impact.

Food Trucks and Football Fans

April 30, 2025

The NFL Draft may have dazzled TV viewers and diehard fans, but local businesses and food trucks faced a rough reality. John and Jim dissect the disconnect: with 600,000 visitors expected, many food vendors were left with excess stock, some losing big. "Cheese Curd Nick" joins to give his take on what worked and what didn't. Pittsburgh, take notes: balancing hype with realistic expectations is key. And remember, the crowd's focus is the draft, not local eats.

April 25, 2025

Green Bay buzzes with excitement as the NFL Draft takes over Titletown. Fans from across the globe gather, creating an electric atmosphere unlike any Packers game. While the crowd swells to 205,000, the vibe stays upbeat and family-friendly—no wildness here! The event sees a mix of NFL fans, some even from Cleveland, and a Make-a-Wish kid gets a heartwarming moment. Lisa Hale from NEWisco Weekend joins the guys to give a preview of what to expect on this weekend's show, which is about everyday heroes. "Cheesecurd Nick" also joins to let us know that while the crowds started slowly yesterday, it kicked in around 6pm, and the crowds were devouring all of the available food in the area!

From Teeth to Tailgates

April 22, 2025

Maino had a dental appointment yesterday for a root canal. The procedure went differently as they decided to pull it. Maino is considering making a necklace out of it and making his extracted tooth a potential fundraiser item. Then we discuss Green Bay's upcoming NFL draft, emphasizing its economic impact and the city's preparations. Cheese Curd Nick joins them, shedding light on vendor expectations and NFL event logistics. We're excited to see how the event pans out over the next few days.

Nick Slupski, "Cheese Curd Nick," is in the house, and he brings in a handful of brats! Besides the brats, Nick digs into his plans with The Dog House for the upcoming draft, and the conversation rolls between that and fishing. He's all ready to start those brats, burgers, and curds on Wednesday morning of the draft.

Cheese Curds & Local 5 LIVE

March 20, 2025

Dennis Peters from The Glam Band sticks around to fill in for the vacationing Mayor. "Cheese Curd Nick" slides in to talk about the Draft that's coming to Green Bay in just a few weeks. Besides discussing possible draft picks, they also talk about doing business during the draft. Then, we're happy to welcome our friends Lisa Malak and Millaine Wells from Local 5 LIVE to the show. We love their show and feel a kinship with them since both our show and their show love to bring out the good news in our communities. The businesses, the food, the arts, the people! Here's a cool picture of Lisa and Millaine having fun.

Ice Safety

March 5, 2025

Nick Slupski with The Dog House hangs out for another segment. Plus, Tom Drzewiecki from Bayside Ice and Marine Recovery calls in with very important information about ice safety. Tom says that with the temperature swings we've been seeing, the ice conditions get treacherous in just a short period of time. They call it "honeycombing.", and it makes the ice extremely dangerous!

A Wet Wednesday

March 5, 2025

Crazy winds and rain start the day, and snow is expected. We guess winter isn't over yet! It's Cheese Doodle Day, Absinthe Day, and Ash Wednesday. This week is also Veterans' Week and Chocolate Chip Cookie Week. More talk about Lent, and Pączkis somehow rolls into whether or not anyone likes prunes. That turns into a Quick Poll and we find out that 75% of Maino & The Mayor listeners do NOT like prunes. Then, another poll was conducted on the type of tattoo Jim should get. The winner: Liberace on his buttocks! Nick Slupski from The Dog House also joins the show to shoot the bull!

“Cold As Ice”

February 18, 2025

As Foreigner said "It's As Cold As Ice" out there! Even colder. Air temperatures in Northeast Wisconsin were at -11 at the show's start, with a wind chill of -31. That doesn't stop Nick Slupski from The Dog House from making it in with some great cinnamon rolls for Jim and John. Check out Ida Wierzchowski on Facebook, she made them! It's also "Eat Ice Cream For Breakfast Day", which sounds yummy to us. And it's "Drink Wine Day." We don't mind if we do!
