Nick Slupski

Maino Oversleeps

January 21, 2025

For the first time during the Maino & The Mayor show, Maino is about a minute late. He lost his phone last night, and his alarm clock didn't go off. In the business, we call that a "double whammy." He makes it in just in time to talk with "Cheese Curd" Nick Slupski from The Doghouse about what's new with the NFL Draft. We learn that if your business operates within "the zone" of the draft, the NFL takes 30% off the top! Who knew? We do now! We also talk about the bitterly cold weather and how it affects your car's engine and tires.

Apple Pie, Cookies & Merlot

December 23, 2024

"Cheese Curd Nick," aka Nick Slupski, plays Santa Claus by bringing in fresh-baked apple pie and cookies to the guys. How did we get to be so lucky? Then, the guys talk about their favorite Christmas movies. Nick says "White Christmas," Maino says "Die Hard," and Jim says "Sound of Music." Then Civic Meteorologist Brittney Merlot joins to share some holiday cheer with her forecast! A little snow and ice for Christmas, but warmer temperatures and melting snow by the weekend.

November 22, 2024

It's Friday, or, as we say, Friyay! Nick Slupski from The Dog House joins B.S. for a bit, and the conversation rolls through odd foods: tongue, heart, liver, and ox tail. We also learn that Jim thought booyah and gumbo were the same thing. (They are not!) Then Lisa Hale, host of NEWisco Weekend, joined the gang to preview what the NEWisco team has in store for the show this weekend.

Food, Music & Service (Hour 2)

October 1, 2024

Nick Slupski sticks around to talk a bit about tailgating around the country, from Green Bay to Kansas City and all over. We're pretty sure that Nick's favorite place to tailgate may be KC. We may have misunderstood him. Then singer/songwriter Jessie G. joins us to tell us more about an Operation Song event at the Epic Center in Green Bay. The event is coming up on the 3rd, and will include music and stories with Operation Song®! Nashville writers round featuring country radio hits and performances of songs written by local veterans who have participated in the Operation Song® program, alongside some of Nashville's most prominent songwriters. The event includes a Live Auction from which proceeds go directly to Operation Song® programing for veterans and their families.

Tuesday Meanderings 10/1/2024 (Hour 1)

October 1, 2024

John makes a significant announcement: he's lost several pounds in the last few weeks by creating his own miracle drink. It includes Ka'Chava, bananas, ice, whey powder, and Tang. Jim and Todd try it. Jim's out. Todd said it was "okay" but had an aftertaste. How do we celebrate both Jim and John's weight loss? Nick Slupski is in, and he brings in a Serbian delight: pepper sandwiches and a Serbian sausage that is simply out of this world! Plus, it's President Carter's 100th birthday, so Jim brings in peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. And it's Julie Andrews' birthday. So we play many tunes from "Sound of Music" specifically for Jim.

Community Service (Hour 2)

August 20, 2024

Our friend "Cheese Curd Nick" joins us along with Vanessa Moran from Feed My Starving Children. These individuals actually met on this show and created a partnership to create an event at the Broadway Farmers Market tomorrow night. All the tips from Nick's cheese curd stand tomorrow night will go to Feed My Starving Children. If you'd like more details about Feed My Starving Children, click HERE. Check out Nick's Facebook page HERE. Then we stay on feeding our community with Bob Hornacek, Assistant Executive Director of Paul's Pantry in Green Bay. Bob talks about his decision to leave media at WLUK-TV and take a job with the pantry. He also tells us about the type of people using the service. It's everyday people who have everyday struggles. Health concerns and bills, poor paying jobs, mental issues... We're so lucky to have individuals like these three in our community.

And then the "music of sports" comes up and Todd finds the Monday Night Football theme, and the CBS NFL theme from the 60s. Great stuff.
