Civic Media Spotlight for the Weekend of April 5th & 6th (Hour 2)

April 5, 2025

Up first this hour, the Dom Salvia Show, along with Matt Rothschild as cohost, takes a victory lap after the spring election by examining some big winners and losers in the race. Hint: more than Schimel lost, and ALL of us who support democracy won!

Then, on the Chad Holmes Show, listener Cornell from Merrill effusive in his praise of how Civic Media allowed people to see who the candidates were in the State Supreme Court race and for the coverage last night.

After that on this week’s UpNorthNews Radio's Capitol Report, state Sen. Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) tells listeners how they can have input about the state budget while the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee does its four-city listening tour. He outlines how there are more opportunities for bipartisan cooperation thanks to new fairer maps, if Republicans decide to be more collaborative than combative.

Finally, the Earl Ingram Show welcomes Reggie Jackson back to the show to explore the possible tensions with Iran should they decline to sign the nuclear weapons ban agreement. He shares his aspirations to gain control over Greenland, asserting that this will be accomplished either through peaceful negotiations or military action. Earl uses the expression "LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS".

Taking Nothing for Granted (Hour 2)

April 3, 2025

This hour’s guests each have reason to not be pessimistic about politics right now, but that’s no reason to put their guard down. Gov. Tony Evers’ veto pen and this week’s state Supreme Court win mean the most extreme conservative proposals won’t be enacted—though it’s not like Republicans won’t stop trying to remove women’s healthcare rights, enact anti-trans laws, and pass tax cuts for the very wealthy.

UpNorthNews with Pat Kreitlow airs on several stations across the Civic Media radio network, Monday through Friday from 6-8 am.
