Two women running for Polk County Board were shocked to see letters mailed to voters that lied about and smeared them. Now it’s been discovered the local Republican Party was behind it and faces possible action from the state Ethics Committee for failing to disclose the spending. It’s not the only time local Republican parties have disregarded the rules. Also, why right-wing justices on the US Supreme Court are taking up a dangerous argument that state legislatures should be able to do anything with elections, with no checks and balances.
