Kat Rhapsody
Kat and the Hurricane Rocks On (Hour 1)
Pete Schwaba hosts a lively night with Kat Rhapsody, the dynamic lead of Kat and the Hurricane, a queer and trans synth-rock indie pop band. Kat shares their journey from forming the band in 2015 to winning five Madison Area Music Awards. The trio, thriving in Madison's vibrant music scene, faces challenges performing in less welcoming areas but remains committed to being the representation they needed as kids.
With upcoming Pride shows in Sheboygan, Oshkosh, and Madison, their music is a beacon of pride and resilience. Also discussed: road buckling from heat, weird side dishes, and a no-loitering coffee shop.

Spinning Wisconsin-made plus with interviews with Take Back the Sun, Kat & the Hurricane. Don't miss an epic performance from Travis Agnew on Live from the Madcity!

Take Back the Sun are finalists in the Rockonsin statewide High School garage band competition and have a gig coming up at Summerfest.

Madison's Kat & the Hurricane won 5 MAMA Awards last week and have been on tour across the country. Listen as they talk about their awards, music, and life trials on the road as an openly all-queer and trans synth rock/indie-pop.

Madison native Travis Agnew is a singer|songwriter who draws from his diverse travels across the U.S. and beyond to craft music that blends alt-country, folk, rock, blues, and reggae.
A story teller at heart, Travis was inspired by the school shooting at Abundant Life Christian School late last year and felt compelled to support the community in light of the tragedy. Travis collaborated with talented artists, musicians and community members to write a song and create a video as part of that mission.
