James Kelly
Weekly Best of John and Gordy Show for Jan 18
John and Gordy hit a home run at the end of this week - as they remembered Bob Uecker, who passed on Thursday. In addition to that, they talked with James Kelley, who was reporting from Eau Claire on the closure of Leinenkugel's brewery Friday. Though every day we check in with our Civic Media meteorologist, Brittney Merlot, we also got her take this week on the news that Allen Media was cutting their entire weather staff, across all stations. Wrapping up this week's best of, we also hear from John and Gordy's conversation with Dr. Tim Slekar, about the theory of multiple intelligences - just how smart can two radio hosts be?

Tis the Season (and it’s always the season) (Hour 1)
Jimmie Kaska, Civic Media's Sports Director guest hosts for the day. We start the hour with some lighthearted talk on the time of year. Then, it's time for some money talk. Wisconsin has a huge surplus, what should be done with it. What would you think of a cheese mouse in every city, town, and village?
Civic Media northwest news chief James Kelly joins us at the bottom of the hour to discuss the Enbridge Energy Line 5, an aging and environmentally dangerous pipeline that crosses over 17,000 miles between Canada and America. The pipeline faces legal action in Wisconsin. It also features at the heart of this documentary covering the Bad River Band's fight for sovereignty of their land and safety of their natural resources, which the pipeline seriously threatens.

Sit down for this one: hateful rhetoric may cause harm!(Hour 2)
In the wake of an apparent second assassination plot against Donald Trump, everyone has an opinion about who and what is to blame. Vance and Trump blame the Democrats for "attacking Trump"... by, er, fact-checking him and pushing back against his authoritarian ideals. Let's be very, very clear: political violence is unacceptable. It is not the answer to political difference. And physical violence often follows verbal violence and hate-filled calls to action.
James Kelly, northwest news bureau chief for Civic Media joins us at the bottom of the hour to brings an update from JD Vance's rally. Towards the end of the appearance, Vance returned to his favorite lie of the moment on Springfield residents from Haiti eating pets.
