Harvey Kaye
Act! It’s for the democracy, y’all! (Hour 2)
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat joins us for the hour. We begin by picking up on the massive national security breach committed by Cabinet members and top advisors over Signal. The news leaves our typically verbose Professor gobsmacked and nearly speechless. He manages to call the act "evil, stupid". And after so many years of hearing cries to "lock her up!' referring to Hillary Clinton and a private email, we ask where are the investigations? Where is the outrage and when are the planned hearings? Well, folks. It's time to act.
Our democracy will not stand on its own. We must act and participate in our democracy for it to persevere. Get out and join the town halls sweeping the nation. Whether you participate in the events hosted by Bernie Sanders and AOC or in the zoom town halls like the one Harvey spoke at last night- act! Stand up, speak out, and ENGAGE in democracy!
And of course, we end the day with something good. We ran out of time to address it directly, but Jess put this one on the bumpers for the last segment. It's her something good for the day because it's petty, funny, and very well produced.

Overthrow! (Hour 2)
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat joins us for the hour. In a time when our nation's President consistently moves toward overthrowing our established orders, maybe we should consider doing the same. Not that we should overthrow democracy. But perhaps we need to change how we approach resistance to Trump's lawlessness and disregard for our national wellbeing. As Trump's administration flagrantly flouts judicial orders and the House makes no efforts to work with Democrats, why the hell did 9 Dems vote with Republicans to advance a reckless CR? As our democracy crumbles before our eyes, why the hell are our elected officials dragging their feet? Where do we go now?
Well, we can look to Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and his ongoing battles for We the People. Sometimes, that involves an overthrow of the way we've been doing things. So, Dems, get in the spirit and get fighting for our democracy! Do your part by making sure you're ready to vote in the Spring election here in Wisconsin! Check your voter registration and all items on your ballot, then make a plan and vote by Tuesday, April 1st!

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Mar 15
Catch up on this week's best segments!
First, from Tuesday's first hour: in his first term President Trump was so proud of the stock market and told everyone to watch it. Now as it tumbles into correction? Not so much...
Then, from Thursday's first hour, we talk with Earl Ingram about key takeaways from Wednesday's first and only debate between candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Next, from Monday's second hour: in discussion with Harvey Kaye, how can we discuss democracy when the press is in a stranglehold?
Finally, something good- of course! We conclude with Wednesday's final segment with Matt Rothschild sharing poetry and bird calls.
Protest and the Press (Hour 2)
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat joins us for the hour. We begin with Harvey's reaction and take on the potential looming Trumpcession. Then, we shift to what We the People can do about the oligarchization (Harvey's word) of our government, press, and world. Well, we can protest. We can protest in our actions and in what we buy- as we are seeing with mass rejections of Tesla. And we can protest with how we choose to spend our time and to whom we give our labor. On that note, yet another Washington Post columnist and editor- Ruth Marcus- leaves, citing conscience and journalistic principles. In an age of decreasing diversity of major news outlets, Harvey sings praise of our own humble project here at Civic Media.
We conclude news coverage two itmes. First, the platform formerly known as Twitter suffered multiple outages today, apparently due to cyberattacks from a group called Dark Storm. Second, our President cheered the arrest of a permanent resident immigrant on... well no charges at all. Mahmoud Khalil, a green-card carrying resident, was arrested by ICE following President Trump's executive order relating to campus protests. This is distressing, and a call to action for us all.
Still, we end the day with something good. Because it matters. And because there is good to be celebrated, cherished, and protected in this crazy world.

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Mar 8
Catch up on this week's best segments!
First, from Wednesday's second hour with Matt Rothschild. Our president delivered an address to a joint session of Congress. We have thoughts...
Next, we turn to Tuesday's second hour as Jess guest hosted with Harvey Kaye. The real conflict in this country has never been Democrat vs. Republican. It's oligarch "economic royalists" vs. the rest of us.
Then, from Thursday's second hour with Earl Ingram as cohost with Dom. As we discuss the devastating cuts to veterans' benefits and care, friend of the network LuAnn Bird calls to share her and her husband's story. Then, should Rep. Al Green have been censured for his simple defiance during the 47th POTUS' address to Congress? Probably not. So we listen to his powerful remarks.
And of course, we finish with something good. This also comes from Wednesday's second hour, as Matt shares a gorgeous poem.
Truth in a Time of Lies (Hour 1)
Jess P-S and Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat co-host the show today! For this hour, we talk truth. Truth matters, all the more so when we have a president who appears physiologically incapable of speaking it. With this opinion article as an anchor, we discuss what it means to value truth.

Make Law Matter Again (Hour 2)
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat joins us for the hour. It seems this administration doesn't believe in law, nor order. Yeah that's right, this isn't the party of law and order. It's the party of assault, battery, and corruption. Still, it's shocking that law doesn't seem to matter at all. We begin the hour wrestling with the King of America's- oh sorry, President Trump's- declaration of immunity from lawlessness as he 'saves the country.' We don't think that logic holds. On any ground. Then, checking in on corruption and collusion in New York with Mayor Eric Adams. After cozying up to Trump, the president called for the Southern District of New York to drop corruption charges against the mayor. In response, multiple lawyers and four deputy mayors have resigned. Is this boldness and resistance? Or paving the way for Trump's chosen lackeys to step in?
Next, where are Democratic leaders? In all this chaos, we need firm guidance and action on the part of our elected legislative representatives. And it's been sorely lacking.
We end the day, of course, with something good. If you need a reason to go out and do something for yourself, something fearless, do it for Gilda.

Weekly Best of Dom Salvia Show for Feb 15
Happy weekend, all! Let's review our best segments from this past week, eh?
First, from Tuesday's first hour, a bit of overtime with Maggie Daun. Do we want President Trump to be successful? Welllll... that really really depends on how you define "successful." Do we want our fellow Americans and this country to flourish? Of course. Do we want mass chaos and cruel policies? Absolutely the hell not.
Next, from Thursday's second hour: lawmakers in states that voted for Trump now find themselves facing down massive funding cuts that will hurt their constituents. Isn't it cute how they thought they were only going to 'own the libs' and not feel an ounce of the pain they so self-righteously crowed would befall Democrats? No, of course it isn't. No American's pain is good. And. And you get what you voted for.
Then, how is this presidential administration's first 100 days shaping up compared to FDR's? We ask and discuss with our favorite Delano Democrat, Harvey Kaye, from our second hour on Monday.
Finally, let's wrap it up with something good! Als from Thursday's second hour, a few moments of peace.

Executive Authority, an envelop not to be pushed (Hour 2)
Harvey Kaye, Professor Emeritus of Democracy and Justice Studies at UWGB, and our favorite Delano Democrat joins us for the hour.
As Trump pushes hard on what the chief executive of our country can legally do, we ask: are we watching a constitutional crisis unfold? Federal judge after federal judge continues to block unconstitutional executive actions for this administration. Breaking in this hour, Federal District Court Judge Angel Kelley issued a temporary restraining order on Trump's NIH gouging in the 22 states that sued to protect medical research and services. But how much can federal judges do to oppose a president who seemingly entered this administration seeking not to remake the office, but to destroy the very foundation of American democracy?
