Greta Neubauer
Civic Media Spotlight for January 11th & 12th (Hour 1)
On the Dom Salvia Show, Dom, with cohost of the day Jim Santelle, talks with Jack Kelly, statehouse reporter for Wisconsin Watch on the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Read Jack's most recent piece on the current and potential future status of the state's highest court here. With a current 4-3 liberal-conservative population and a liberal justice retiring, April's election will decide whether the current balance maintains or tips to the conservatives.
Then, on John and Gordy In the Morning, the guys talk with Pam Jahnke about the premiere of Green and Gold, the new movie shot in Wisconsin about the Green Bay Packers.
Next, on UpNorthNews Radio, Assembly Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) and new state Sen. Sarah Keyeski (D-Lodi) discuss the opening of the new session of the Wisconsin Legislature. They had big hopes for bipartisan progress, now that fairer maps have made the Assembly and Senate more representative of Wisconsin voters. But Republicans have spent the week rushing to pass a voter suppression measure and even stripping away Democratic seats on committees.
Wrapping up the hour on the Maggie Daun Show, Maggie talks about one of her New Year intentions, not resolutions, of playing more. Maggie shares some of her favorite board games and takes calls and texts for recommendations about what games she can work into her intention to play more in 2025.

Misplaced Priorities (Hour 2)
On this first full week of work for members of Congress and the Wisconsin Legislature, we’re getting a classic demonstration of misplaced priorities—with lawmakers using their first days back at work to focus on division and suppression, rather than something like grocery prices. We’ll visit with Assembly Democratic Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer, new State Sen. Sarah Keyeski, and editor Ruth Conniff from the Wisconsin Examiner.

Greta Neubauer thinks Democrats can flip the Wisconsin State Assembly
Here in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention, there is a lot going on. Most of this is taking place inside the United Center, but there are other events happening all over town. Yesterday afternoon, I attended one of those events hosted by an organization called The Next 50, a group that focuses on the next generation of Democratic leaders, with a particular focus on those in state legislatures.
This event was called the “Reverse Coattails Roundtable”, and featured several state legislative leaders from swing states, including Sen. Mallory McMorrow from Michigan, State Rep. Sam Park from Georgia, and Greta Neubauer, the Democratic leader in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
After the event, I had the chance to sit down for a conversation with Neubauer. We talked about reverse coattails, and how races at the bottom of the ticket might help candidates at the top. We talked about the changing enthusiasm for Democrats, with Kamala Harris as the nominee, and we talked about Tim Walz and what he and Democrats have been able to do with a one-seat legislative majority in Minnesota. We also talked about new maps, and the chances for Democrats to win the majority in the Assembly. She thinks it can happen. She even predicted they’d win 52 seats.
We also talked about Republicans like Robin Vos advancing more constitutional amendment referendums. We talked about what legislative Democrats have done in Wisconsin to protect the governor’s veto. We talked about a lot more, too.
I hope you enjoy this conversation with Democratic Assembly Leader, Greta Neubauer.
Voices From The Convention (Hour 2)

We’ll also hear from Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and two residents playing a key role in ridding the city of its lead water pipes.

In our Women Win Wisconsin segment powered by Motherhood for Good, we’re joined by Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez and Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer for a discussion on former President Trump’s expressing openness to allowing restrictions on contraception access—before an abrupt about-face. Also: Author Nick Butler runs for an Assembly seat in the Chippewa Valley. And we review the latest Top Chef-Wisconsin.

Inhospitable Climate (Hour 1)
When it comes to a changing climate, the bad news about its impact can also be accompanied by good news about the economic opportunities that come with a cleaner, greener economy. Unfortunately, the climate for new jobs is downright hostile among Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, as we’ll hear from Assembly Minority Leader Greta Neubauer.
Weekly Best of UpNorthNews Radio with Pat Kreitlow for Aug 12
