From the civic media news desk, I'm Wayne Mauser a car crash in the town of center resulted in one of the drivers and his passenger sustaining serious injuries this according to the out of gamey County Sheriff's Office just after 515 Tuesday afternoon deputies with the out of gamey County Sheriff's Office were sent to the intersection of County Highway double E and Wedge Road to respond to the crash the preliminary investigation found a sedan driving southbound on County Highway double E and another sedan
driving eastbound on Wedge Road collided.
The southbound sedan was driven by a 24-year-old man.
The eastbound sedan was driven by a 16-year-old male with another 16-year-old male passenger.
Investigators determined the eastbound sedan failed to stop at the intersection and was hit by the southbound sedan.
Alcoholists not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Both teens were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The 24-year-old was evaluated on the scene for minor injuries.
Occupants of an Oshkosh home are displaced after a fire late Monday night.
The Oshkosh Fire Department responded to the fire at 208 Oxford Avenue just after 11.15 p.m.
When first responders arrived, they found smoke in the attic.
Fire suppression efforts began shortly after.
It was extinguished within about 30 minutes.
The home's occupants were alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors and evacuated safely.
No one was injured.
The home suffered fire, smoke, and water damage.
The city of Oshkosh estimates the damage is around $50,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Hurricane police say one of their officers was conducting stationary radar patrol when another vehicle hit the officer's patrol vehicle.
It happened shortly before 12.30 Sunday morning in the 300 block of Barstow Street,
The vehicle that struck the squad was heading west trying to overtake another vehicle that was turning left into a business parking lot.
A 44-year-old Columbus man was driving the vehicle that struck the patrol car.
The driver fled the scene on foot, but was later taken into custody by the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
No one was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
The State's Department of Health Services has announced the first confirmed West Nile virus activity in the state this year.
Mosquitoes collected from Milwaukee County have tested positive, and a wild bird from Bayfield County tested positive for the virus.
Currently, no human cases of West Nile virus have been reported.
The virus has spread to humans, birds, and other animals through the bite of an infected mosquito.

visit the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website.
The Administrator for the State's Division of Trade and Consumer Protection cautions residents to be careful about purchasing back-to-school items online.

Michelle Rynan says scammers will use dishonest ads, copycat websites, poor quality products, and fake reviews.
She recommends reading the bad or lowest reviews because that's often where scam victims will post about their experience with the service or
product.
She also recommends reading reviews on third-party websites, researching unfamiliar companies, and purchasing with a credit card to provide anti-fraud protection.

The State Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced a closing of the north half of the intersection of State Highway 54 and County Highway D, North Charlotte Street, in New London for 28 days beginning on Monday.
The closure is part of the ongoing
construction project in the area.
The north half of the intersection will be closed Monday at 6 a.m.
and reopened by August 16th.
The schedule is dependent on weather conditions and construction progress.
US Highway 45 and the US Highway 45 County Highway D roundabouts have been reopened to provide access.
State Highway 54 eastbound and westbound traffic will be maintained.
There will be no posted detour with the closure.

I'm only saying that because of the heat.
You're welcome to be on the patio anytime.
Um, but, and then of course the, the brand new children's area with all the fun areas to play in over there.
So,
but they also have an air quality advisory.
So that's going to impact.
Yeah, that's going to impact a lot of folks.
So yeah, the library is a great place to hang out if you're looking for a place to beat the heat this, this week, especially.

We had a little conversation as we were prepping about a guy that's going to a praise different

He was connected with the antique roadshow at one point in time, but he does go out and do appraisals on his own.
And so we have him booked to come next week, Saturday.
So that would be July 25th.
He's going to be at the Ripon Senior Center because we're still doing a lot of programming offsite from 11 a.m.
to two.
on Saturday, July 25th.
We do ask that people sign up and we do have several people signed up already, but we need to fill those slots for him to come.
We have to have a minimum of 25.
items before he will come.
So we're still looking to fill some of those slots.
There are empty slots, so please give us a call at the library and register.
We are going to ask you what you're bringing because he has a very definite list of dos and don'ts.
There are certain items he will take and certain items he won't.
So just a reminder, he will not do any weapons, traps, jewelry, precious gems, beanie,
beanie babies, coins, or paper money.
So those are on his no appraisal list.
But if you have folk art, advertising, furniture, ceramics, glassware, photographs, clocks, metalware, those kinds of things, he is happy to do that.
So when you call to register, we are going to ask you what items you're bringing.
So please be prepared to answer that question.
We can't just call and sign up.
We're going to call and then we're going to ask you what you're bringing because we need to make sure it's on the acceptable list before we get you registered.
But yeah, so that's coming up pretty soon.
We do need to have everybody registered by Thursday the 23rd.
So if you could get those calls in soon, we would appreciate it because that's the end of next week already that's coming up fast.

It turned out really well.
We had David Sacrison, who is a local historian and former college professor there.
So he helped with the tour.
It was great.
We had a really good time and we ended the tour at the Ripon Historical Society with some cookies and lemonade provided by Ripon Doco.
So that's always a fun time.
If you missed it, we're doing another round in August.
So the weekend of August 7th and 8th, we're going to be running those tours again.
Again, because we have to limit the number of people in the tour.
I can't have 50 people with one tour guide downtown.
You can't hear well enough for that.
So if you are interested, again, we ask that you call and register.
And all of these programs are free.
The registration is only because we have to limit size.
There's no cost to any of these programs that we offer because our programs are all funded by our Friends of the Library program.
So the historic walk will be Friday, August 7th, starting at 2 p.m.
And then the Saturday one starts at 10 a.m.
Both programs start at the library.
So I do a little introduction and do a small tour in history of the Ripon library.
And then we'll walk downtown and see some of the historic buildings along the way.
And then you also have the option of going out to the Little White Schoolhouse to extend your tour out there as well.

We're very thankful to Diverse Options for allowing us to use their bus to transport people out to the schoolhouse and back.

photographs and information about some of the historic sites downtown.
One of the cool items that we put a QR code for in the brochure is about the cave exploration.
Um, there is a rumor that there was a cave under the old meat market on fondle x street.
And in the early 2000s, the speleological society, I don't know if I'm even saying that, right?
It's the society for spelunking is basically what it is.
Yeah.
The spelunkers, um, they came in and did a little exploration of that cave.
So the QR code takes you to a link to that video and the report from that cave exploration, which is just kind of a unique thing for ripping again.
Rippin has so many cool historic buildings and history that are just a huge part of what goes on in Rippin.
And we have such a thriving downtown.
It's fun to go back and look.
One of the people who took the tour last Friday said, you know, I come downtown all the time, but I never looked up.
I'm like, exactly.
There's a lot of, a lot of information just by looking up at the top of the buildings and some of the dates on the buildings.
Yeah, it's it was very interesting and I'm only lived here a few years.
Um, but there are a lot of people who have lived here all their lives and I don't know if they really know all the history of the downtown area.
So again, it's a fascinating tour.
