The WIA has ruled that Ithaca-Weston will be charged with a forfeit of the August 28th game.
The game was postponed a day after the death of Ithaca freshman Briggs Maxwell.
Ithaca, Weston, Wozika Steuben, and Seneca joined forces and presented WIA leadership with a formal appeal requesting this forfeit be changed to a no contest.
Ultimately, however, the best efforts were to no avail.
The WIA is standing by its decision to record the game as a loss for Ithaca-Weston.
The WIA has asked that we clarify the decision was not due to lack of empathy, but they were bound by the rules of the playoff qualifying system used to rank teams for the postseason to rule how they did.

In volleyball action, Richland Center lost the opening set at Prairie du Chien last night, 25-20.
And then the Hornets went on to win three in a row, 25-18, 25-9, and 25-10 to take the match three sets to one.
Platteville defeated River Valley in three in a battle of unbeatens going into the match last night, and Dodgeville three sets to one over Lancaster.
In the Six Rivers, Highland three sets to none over Benton.
Riverdale won three sets to two in the best of five volleyball match at home against Iowa Grant.
The Chieftain scored a three-set sweep earlier this season.
However, on Tuesday night, it was a battle through the evening.
The first set at the rest building saw Riverdale emerge with a 25-21 win.
Junior Riley Kinney led with two kills in a block while Emily Goplin added two kills.
In the second set Iowa Grant dominated.
At one point they led 19-1 before finishing it out with a 25-12 win.
Ava Claus had two aces to lead the Panthers.
Iowa Grant took a two sets to one lead with a 25-23 win in the third go-round.
Riverdale bounce back to win 25-14 in the fourth.
Bailey Harris had three kills and Riley Kinney had three kills and two aces.
That momentum helped the Chieftains roll to a 15-4 win in the fifth set.
And in that SWAL matchup, it was Riverdale getting the win three sets to two.
Iowa Grant won the JV match three nothing.
Following the three sets to two win, Riverdale varsity will prepare for an important league game coming up on Thursday at home against Darlington.
Iowa Grant will play at Fenimore.

So they've been focused.
It's been flying already, but they're playing well.

We have so many kids that are stepping up at different times.
We just played in New Lisbon this last weekend and
Um, everybody did not play great all of the time, but enough people took care of their roles and their jobs to cover each other that we were able to come out and be foreign all after the weekend.

that's the glory of this squad is that we're just kind of like deep across the board and everybody just they they're the best teammates for each other if they lack anything they lack self-confidence but by golly they all will build everybody else up around them and they think that their teammate next to them can win the match for them at any given time so it's been it's been fantastic that they all have just really it's a solid group of ten that
