pitch time for the boys team as Richland Center heads to Lodi for boys soccer.

And the Richland Center High School will be the site of a very competitive high school volley ball tournament today.

Hornets head coach Jamie Johnson looks forward to the event.

We have a great tournament.

It's got Cuba City, Luther, Royal, who's always good, Hillsborough, you know, Lancaster, Reisburg.

So just to name a few, I think it's here.

Royal, like I mentioned, they're always ranked.

Fenimore, who's in our sectional.

So it's going to be, if you come out of this tournament four and oh, you have definitely earned it, whoever that is.

We're hoping we have an outside shot at that.

If they're not already ranked, they are.

I don't know if the first poll came out or not, but with what they had coming back from last year, I'm guessing or assuming they'll be top 10 if not top five teams ranked.

So just some great competition.

That's right here at the field house.

So come on out Saturday.

We got some great food pulled.

chicken and subway and noodles and just walking tackles everything there.

Come in and just take in some great volleyball.

There's just some great teams around the area participating this weekend.

Labor Day weekend is a free weekend for his team.

There's a bunch of stuff that you want to try to get done and utilize your time when you just aren't so pressed.

There's deadlines when you get to the regular season in regards to when you need to get your plan done by.

So you have a chance to put it on paper and draw it up and do all that and get it to the players.

So I would say there's less of a deadline.

The Badger football team kicks off its 2026 season Sunday night at Lambeau Field, facing fourth ranked Notre Dame at 630.

The Badgers enter year four under Luke Fickle with a mix of returning starters and new additions as well.

The matchup also marks the first time Fickle and Irish coach Marcus Freeman, former teammates and colleagues, meet as opposing head coaches.

Number four, Notre Dame is vowed to leave no doubt about its worthiness for a college football playoff this time after a 10

game winning streak to end the regular season could not earn the fighting Irish a bid last year.

Jeremiah Smith had two highlight real worthy touchdown catches.

Julian Sayon passed for 320 yards and three touchdowns and top rated Ohio State tuned up for next week's matchup against number five Texas with a 56 to three route of Ball State.

Josh Hoover threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns including a 15 yard score on his first pass with number six Indiana

and Turbo Richard Rush for two touchdowns to help the defending national champs throughout North Texas 52 to 16.

Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Becker are going to be the next generation of players to lead the U.S.

Women's National Team.

They're already making their presence felt in their first major international competition, the blueprint for the American success over the past three decades, which has seen eight straight Olympic gold medals and four consecutive World Cup titles.

That's been a chance to build rosters with experienced veterans mixed with an X set of young stars who will be ready when their name is called.
