Elsewhere in sports, Jake Bauer has capped a marathon plate appearance with a tie-breaking two-run homerun.
Logan Henderson pitched six strong innings, and the Brewers defeated the Braves 4-1 today.
The Brewers have won six of their last seven.
Atlanta has lost five of six.
Bauer has fouled off seven straight pitches before hitting a two-run two-out homerun.
The Cap Milwaukee's three-run third inning.
Henderson has not allowed more than three runs in any
obvious 18 starts.
Brewer pitcher Brandon Woodruff says his latest shoulder injury will not require surgery.
That represents a notable change of plans for the two-time All-Star who has dealt with multiple arm issues.
This development creates a least, maybe a slight chance Woodruff could pitch again this season.
The prospect of a 2026 return remains unlikely though.
Woodruff was fully intending to have surgery as soon as possible to increase the likelihood he could return at least by late 2027.
Scans taken a month ago after he last pitched showed significant signs of improvement that indicates surgery is not necessary.
Dodger President Stan Casten has addressed online speculation about the team's future under owner Mark Walter.
He stated the Dodgers are not for sale and no process has been started to sell the team.
Bo Nicks had a successful return in Denver's 33-13 preseason loss to Green Bay.
After recovering from broken right ankle, he connected with RJ Harvey for a 21-yard touchdown pass and Jalen Waddle for 35 yards in the loss.
Nicks completed six of nine passes for 76 yards and the touchdown.
Jordan Love let Green Bay on a 12 play 63 yard opening drive ending with an 11 yard touchdown pass.
Riley Moss recovered a fumble, but it was negated after a review and he left with a rib injury.
The Packers now one and one on the preseason season.
And a federal appeals court has temporarily halted a court order that would have granted thousands of athletes an extra year of eligibility.
This decision comes just eight days before the college football season begins.
The lawsuit was filed by players who graduated high school in 2022 and were not included in the NCAA's new rule granting most players five years of eligibility.
The ruling puts a hold on the situation until the appeal can be fully heard.
The NCAA argues that fairness is subjective, as current athletes and schools have already built their rosters based on existing rules.

Ithaca Weston won for the first time as a co-op football team with a 14-0 defeat of Riverdale on Friday night.
It was a heart-hitting game throughout.
IW controlled the time of possession throughout the contest.
They took the opening kickoff and shoot up seven minutes and 19 seconds of the first quarter before they turned the ball over on downs inside the Riverdale 20 yard line.
Chieftain quarterback Bevan Dennis ran 74 yards to the end zone, only to have it called back because of a penalty.
Both defenses had moments.
Ithaca Weston's Caden Keller had two interceptions in the game and Riverdale's
Daily picked off a pass.
It appeared the game would be scoreless at the half however on the last play of the first half IW sophomore quarterback Jacob Keller ran 11 yards to the end zone.
The extra point missed and it was 6-0 at halftime.
The Cheepkins drove to the IW3 yard line before turning it over on downs in the second half.
Ithaca-Weston then mounted another long, time-consuming drive that was capped with 5.51 remaining when Jacob Keller scored his second rushing touchdown and then later threw to Spencer Nelson for the two-point conversion.
Riverdale had two more possessions but failed to connect on a couple of long passes.
Among the chieftain leaders was senior linebacker Owen Blankenship, who led the defense.
Ithaca Weston was led by its offensive line on the night and running back Landon Walmer, who had several clutch carries.
Following the Ithaca Weston 14-0 win, they will play at Weston High School against Wozika Steuben Seneca during the second week of the season.
Riverdale will be at Hillsborough for week number two.

Edgerton 42, Bronhead 2-12, Mount Horror Barnabale picked up a 14-10 win over Grafton.
Reedsburg won better than New Berlin West 22-21, Sark Prairie 37, Baraboo 6, Baldwin Woodville over Tomah 48-19, it was a win for Sparta over Black River Falls 40-24, and one game scheduled for today, it is Darlington at St.
Mary Springs.

Later today, the 26th annual alumni soccer match against the Richland Center varsity will take place at 11 o'clock at a Vitus Rip Field.
I asked Richland Center soccer coach Tom Sadler about the event.
All of the alumni players for the program are invited to join us at 11 a.m.
at the stadium on Saturday.
That'll be our annual alumni game.
It's important, though, for your guys to get out and get a little taste of competition before it actually starts for real on the schedule, though, isn't it?
That's correct.
We will start our season Tuesday, August 25th, against La Crosse Aquinas down in La Crosse.
That's a team that we beat last year in the state tournament.
So we are excited to play them.
Before we do, playing against the alumni is a great occasion.
