Yesterday marked a month before the very first high school football game in our area or games.
That schedule will get underway soon.
Practice begins in early August for that.
It's getting down to the final weekends for hometown and baseball.
The last weekend of the regular season this weekend for teams in the northern section, the western section with one more week on August 2nd before the playoffs began in August.

Last night in softball at Crosscut Park, Richland Baptist Temple 3 tallied its first win of the season, walking off the mission in the bottom of the seventh inning, 15-14.
Five points Lutheran jumped into second place in the standings, downing Richland Baptist Temple team 2, 19-7.
Richland Baptist Temple 1 defeated St.
Mary's 15-5.
The Knights of Columbus got the best of Grace Community 18-3.
Nate Raich, Caleb Frawley, AJ Clone, Maria Gilbert, and Dr. Wright all went four for four in the win.
And Boscobel Assembly of God played a two runs in the bottom of the seventh to Edge Church of the Nazarene, 12 to 11.
Sawyer Luce had four hits, and Ella Vande He was four for four, both of them contributing big hits in the final rally.

Some highlights from quail run Tuesday men's golf league action.
The Southwest Coaches League Baseball season came to an end Saturday with a tournament finals for fifth and sixth grade teams being held in Richland Center.
The Richland Center sixth grade boys had an amazing season out of the 31 teams in the league.
Richland Center sixth grade baseball team came in second at the end of the season tournament.
The sixth grade baseball team won the East Division with an eight and two record.
The team won the Gotham tournament and came in third
in both the Wisconsin Heights tournament and the tournament at Plantville.
The team ended the season with a 19 and seven record.
Team members this year included Carter Jelenick, Eli Lundgren, Dylan Putz, Ryder Johnson, Alex Swinefuss, Austin Ewing, Ben Bosworth, Caden Tyvis, Oliver Cosgrove, Jacob Sharp, Landon Myers, Baxter Miller,
and Liam Salisbury.
The team's coaches included Mark Jelenick, Brian Myers, Brandon Miller, Chad Cosgrove, and Father Nate Kuhn.
On to the state scene where rookie left-hander Zach Thornton and three relievers shout out the Brewers on four singles last night for nothing.
That ended Milwaukee's four game win streak.
Another rookie Brandon Sprote gave up two of the runs while taking his fifth defeat.

I mean that kid for
He attacked his own.
He didn't give up free bases.
He took a little off.
He cut the ball real nice.
We did have some balls hit hard, but you know, you know, they don't count.

So credit the kid for how he pitched.
Murphy talked about what led to the poor night.
Whatever that was, miscommunication, whatever you want to call it, that opened the game up.

You should keep going.
I think we've been down this road before where it's kind of a long ending.
It's not my first time at it.
Just, you know, tell myself, hey, you know, keep going, you know, it doesn't matter how I feel, it doesn't matter what I'm feeling, you know, just keep making pitches.
You know, let's see if we can, you know, get a five pitch in here, you know, and put us right back on track.
So that means that's kind of just my mindset, you know, going back out for a second.

The Bucks lost three out of five games in the just completed NBA Summer League.
but the lineup featured one standout.
Rookie Braden Burris was named to the all summer league first team.
Burris was the 10th pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
He hit more than half of his shots and scored more than 20 points in three of the four games he played.
It was Burris layup with one and a half seconds left that gave Milwaukee a 96-94 win over Philadelphia Sunday in its final game of the summer.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love has shown the ability to perform in pressure pack situations.
Preview stories focused on the 26 NFL season aren't giving him a lot of credit, but the numbers do.
Dairyland Express reports that love finished second among all quarterbacks in EPA.

Head coach Luke Fickle and his staff had brought
