It's warm You're not used to playing in these kind of conditions.

yeah?

Yeah, I sent a text out this morning the girls and told them make sure they get hydrated It's gonna be a warm one.

Yeah,

how's the team look how you've been playing and practice in here lately

Practice we've spent some time on this.

You know just focusing on the things we need to improve they look like they're

focused.

Um, you know, we did have a practice Saturday morning, just basically, uh, worked on hitting and bunting.

And then again, last night, the school district allowed us to practice from four to six.

So we got a good one in here before the game.

And, uh, I think they're ready.

Priority.

She is a team.

You have a lot better record than them, but then you only beat them by one run both times this

year.

Yeah.

I think a total of, if I remember correctly, four runs in the two games.

So yeah.

Um,

You know, their record doesn't really show how good of a team they potentially could be.

They started out the season on a hot streak and then just dipped a little bit there in conference.

And they think they struggle hitting, kind of like us.

They have a real good picture in Claire, a lot like us.

And they play defense fairly decent, a lot like us.

So, you know, I would say very evenly matched teams.

We've seen each other twice.

So tonight, you know, it's gonna, we're gonna

Just go out and battle and it's going to come down to, I think who puts a few more bats on the balls this afternoon.

Would you rather played somebody else that you've never seen before?

I think just for the girls.

Yes.

Um, you know, they, they were excited to maybe just get out, see some new, new teams.

Um, I was hoping, you know, for a little better seed.

I honestly did not want to see Prairie this early.

Um, you know, I think we.

potentially could have the two of the better pitchers in that sectional.

Um, so, you know, it's always tough as you go through a sectional, as you get deeper into it, you see better and better pitching.

And I'm not sure that's going to be the case this time around.

We might see one of the better pitchers right out of the gate.

Both pitchers are probably going to get their strikeouts.

And again, it comes down to making plays when the ball is actually here, right?

Yeah.

Yep.

Um,

Making plays and then I think, like I said, just putting a bat on the ball, you know, there hasn't been a lot of hits in both games either.

And, you know, we've spent our past week focusing on that because we know we got to get a bat on the ball here a little more as we get deeper into the run of the tournament.

And we'll just, you know, a couple extra hits here and there from the bottom of the lineup can win a game for you.

we have all year.

I mean, you know, last year, Kyrie coming into the, into the game, new, no one knew her this year.

She's, she's, it's out there.

She's a good pitcher, really good pitcher.

And, uh,

We expect a lot of butting a lot of times and we I feel with Morgan on third base and Reagan on first base and then with Kyrie at the mound and JC behind the plate.

You know, we've done a pretty good job this year defending that and just trying to take that option away from people.

If you look, we have Morgan play up pretty tight to the plate and and Reagan the same way.

And we've done a pretty good job of defending that as a whole this year.

I thought about you playing for your sheen as opposed to a team that maybe comes in with a lesser record, maybe hasn't had a lot of success.

Uh, you know, there's no way to look past this game.

Is there?

Oh, no, no, we are, it's going to be a battle.

Like I said, I would rather have played anyone probably in the sectional other than prayer to sheen just because, you know, the old, you go back to the old adage of, you know, beating a team three times in one season.

So that's another.

thing we got to try to hurdle here tonight as well.

Um, they're going to come in hungry.

You know, if you go back to last year, they beat us twice in regular season.

We beat them in the tournament and then we came in this year and we beat them twice and now we meet them again in the tournament.

You know, in two years ago, they were conference champions.

So, um, it's a lot of pride in that club.

Pat does a great job with them and they're going to be ready to play.

How was your team health wise?

We're doing pretty good.

Abigail skinned up her knee.

She's been gimpy a little bit, but she's tough kid.

She'll come in and be fine tonight.

Other than that, few sore arms.

It's getting late in the season.

We've been making sure we work out a little extra before practice, just stretching and throwing and getting the reps in to try to keep things at a bay.

Abigail Williams had that good run of hitting there.

And, you know, I was thinking at times maybe a coach would have been better off walking her, but then again, when she gets on base, that's a danger too for another team.

Isn't

it?

Yeah.

That's the key with Abigail's just getting her on.

I mean, you go clear back to last year when she was kind of coming into what we could see her being.

And, you know, she had, she has a pretty wild swing, but she generally makes contact and she's tamed that down this year.

But, you know, last year she was up there swinging, pulling her head and it's just from trying

I mean, that's just who she is.

She wants to be successful.

She wants to hit the ball hard.

Uh, this year we've done a better job.

Dave's really worked with her.

Greg, you know, just getting her to stay a little more calm, take better swings and she's hitting the ball.

Well, but, uh, you know, we talked to her last year, we just need to get you on base.

We don't care how we get you on base.

We can get you on first base, you know, generally with an area or just a, you know, we send her a lot.

I mean, we can get her on third pretty quick.

And, uh, you know, and she's one of those girls, you get her on first base.

that she's comes home a lot.

Should be an exciting game tonight.

Any other keys or anything like that?

You can see Jamie.

I don't think so.

I think it's just going to come down to your own confidence.

Each, the kids know each other, you know, in this day and age, they're on social media and they all know each other a little different back when I played sports.

Um, so there's probably some talk going back and forth.

Um, you know, we, uh,

We've talked as a group what we need to do and we know what we need to focus on and we've been working very hard at it.

And I think just getting the girls calmed down the batter's bow.

You know, we as a whole have a young team and some kids in there that haven't had the chance to kind of come up through like you would like to see just with numbers.

And, you know, we've talked to them last night again, you know, just calm down, go in, just be yourselves.

And that's kind of been what I've been driving home all year.

Just be us.

You know, we can't change who we are now.

We've done okay and just continue to do what we've been doing.

and we should be okay.

I talked to Jamie Kander about that a little bit ago, and he said,
