River Valley passed the first test of the WIA softball tournament with a 14-4-6 inning
win over visiting Partyville on Thursday night.
The Black Oxtail won nothing after the Bulldogs played at a run on an error.
River Valley then played at five runs in the second inning and never trailed the rest
of the way.
Ellie Hillbrand, who is a senior captain, was three for four with a two run home run.
Bella DeVinney was two for four with a triple.
Nahalo Willie was two for four with two RBIs and Elopro Hasco was two for three with
an RBI triple.
Ashland Stokes was the winning pitcher while Brooklyn Stokes came on in relief in the
fourth inning to help the team improve to 10 and 16 on the season.
Partyvill's Taylor Ludkey suffered the pitching loss, Abigail Jacobson and Addison Niri both
had two hits for the Bulldogs.
The season came to an end for the visitors at River Valley last night with a 14-4 win.
River Valley advances to round two of the WIA softball tournament with a game at Lodi
on Tuesday night.
Elsewhere last night Aquinas 14-3 over Baroque a youth initiative Aquinas moves on to face
Adam's friendship, which had a first round by in division two reads bird 13-3 over Wisconsin
Dels in five innings and Sock Prairie one in five innings over Austin 12-nothing.
In division four, Nesita 11-7 over Whitehall, Nesita will travel to number one seed Phenomore
on Tuesday and in division five, Ithago Weston knows its opponent coming up on Tuesday.
That will be North Crawford they defeated Kikapu 14-10.
One o'clock center was a 10-8 winner over LaFarge.
They will face Royal next.
Highland got the win against Benton Shoalsburg 14-10.
They will play Belmont on Tuesday night and Southwestern was a winner six-two over Pecatanica.
They will face Barnabelle next in line.
There were some regular season softball games played last night.
Teams getting a tune up before they began tournament play.
Richland center was a three-nothing winner at Iowa Grant last night.
The Hornets last game of the regular season.
They will host Prairie Dushin for their first tournament game coming up on Tuesday.
And Dodgeville was a winner over Ithago Weston by a score of 11-nothing.
In baseball, Ithago wins the Ridge and Valley Conference title outright after a double-header's
sweep of Wozika Stuben last night, 12-9 in the first game, 7-6 in game two in a contest
that went eight innings.
So Ithago wins the outright title this year in the Ridge and Valley and will be in
tournament play next Thursday.
Dodgeville was a winner over River Valley, 7-1 in the Southwest Conference, Darlington
Edge Riverdale, 3-2, Phenomore, 10-7 over Iowa Grant.
Platteville beat Prairie Dushin, 13-2, De Soto over Seneca, 5-2, Barnabelle, 12-1 over
Hillsboro, and 5 innings, Benel 0.72 winners against Southwestern.
Also yesterday it was Riverdale getting the loss handed by Darlington, 3-2.
As mentioned, Weston with a win, 13-5 over Kikapu, Trevor Westfall got the win on the
mound, throwing the complete game, allowing one earn run on 10 hits, no walks, and eight
strikeouts.
The Eagles put up nine hits total on the night, Gavin Cass led the way with a double,
and every other batter in the lineup added a single along the way.
And Landry Staluka collected three hits and three at bats as North Crawford defeated
the Farge, 13-2 on Thursday, Staluka doubled in the second inning, single in the first
tripled in the third inning, leading the way for the Trojans.
In Sucker, Richland Center traveled to Platteville Thursday night, and fell 5-1 to Platteville
Lancaster in conference action.
The Hornets trailed 2-0 and a half time, but found the net in the second half, Brynn Anderson
with a kick behind the Platteville defense led to Rowan May's hustle to beat the keeper
and crossed the ball and found Peyton Brickle, far bar who knocked it in.
Next action is coming up tonight against Boston for the Richland Center's Sucker Girls.
It was River Valley edging Wisconsinites Barnabelle 2-1 and Dodgeville mineral point over
Prairie Dushin co-op for nothing.
Also in baseball tonight, Richland Center caps off its regular home season with a game
against Lancaster in the Southwest Conference, Sucker Prairie at River Valley, Pecatonica
at Potosi Casphill, Fall River at Barnabelle, and Loadive as it's Baraboo as well.
Bare Valley co-ed softball last night, the 630 game came down to the final inning as the
Buffalo's edged Clary Memorial funeral home 3-2, the Buffalo's got all three of their
runs in the third inning with Scott Dilly, Lexi Rue and Jordan Slaney each crossing the
plate.
Clary's battle back late behind Caleb Olson, who scored both runs for his team, Olson
blasted a home run on the fifth, then scored again in the seventh, off an RBI from Austin
Clary with a tying run on second and two outs in the final inning.
Clary's threatened to complete the comeback but came up just short.
Parents' accidents dominated the 730 matchup, rolling past New York Life 16-2, Griffin
Sprecher and Wyatt Knockriner led the offensive explosion with four runs scored each, while
Wyatt also added an inside the park home run.
New York Life found early life in the first inning after Sadie Essard drew a walk, followed
by singles from Dustin Godet and Cassie May.
Jordan Slaney drove in both runs with a two RBI single, but New York Life was held
scoreless rest of the way as parents' accidents pulled away for the win.
And Bear Vale stayed hot at the plate during the 830 matchup, defeating the free agents
Jesse Shoal led the way with four runs scored, while Cody Povomacher and Dave Jones
each added two runs in the win.
The free agents made a late push in the sixth inning, after being held just one run early,
Bryant Fargeon scored on the third inning, then added an RBI double in the sixth, while
Ryan Ferguson delivered a two RBI double during the rally, despite the comeback effort Bear
Vale held on for the win.
Next Thursday night, another fun evening of softball action, co-adaction beginning at
630, come out to the ballpark and call park and enjoy great games, food, and support
your local teams under the lights.
The Brewers began a weekend series against the Dodgers this weekend, 31 and 19 for the
Dodgers, first in the National League West, the Brewers 29 and 18, first in the National
League Central.
