I talked earlier today with Richland Center head coach Ryan Lemke.

It's hard to cancel a game when it's 75 and stunning, so we're trying to scramble and get one of the community fields ready to rock for tonight.

No guarantees yet, but we think we can make it happen.

You play Prairie du Sheen, you

know much about them at this point.

not much I know you know they're always a decent ball club and we didn't play nearly our best last Friday against Valley so we're ready to get back after it and play tonight that's the goal play clean baseball you know we haven't shown that since Kentucky so we're hoping to get back in the wind column tonight

yeah in the River Valley game you kind of dug that hole sometimes it's tough to dig out of isn't it

Yeah, we had a uncharacteristic outing from one of our guys and too many walks, too many hit batters and, you know, that dug that hole and then, you know, we weren't able to have that clutch hit or those clutch hits, I should say, in those situations with running and scoring position and we're hoping to turn that around tonight.

Early today, I talked to head coach Ryan Lemke about the Richland Center hitting so far.

You know, you look at our lineup on paper and we've got a whole bunch of guys that should be doing a little bit better than they showed last Friday.

So I'm not worried.

It was one game, right?

And we've got to show up.

Our offense has actually looked better than it has in years past.

So what we're seeing in practice was not what we showed on the field on Friday.

So.

I think these guys are hungry and it's showing right now by them working.

I'm working on the field trying to get this field ready right now and get it ready.

Obviously the kids are in study hall and stuff, but when when we can get them out here and get some work in on the field and try to play tonight, that's the goal

with the schedule and you didn't have

any games canceled because you've got quite a long stretching between games that didn't hurt any.

But I presume you've got a lot of games coming up in a short time, don't you?

We got a lot of games coming up in a short time.

Yeah, and this is going to.

coming up on our busy season here.

So it's hard to cancel these games knowing what's coming because then you all of a sudden you've got four or even five games in a week and that puts you in a tough spot.

So we're excited to hopefully play night and knock one of these out and get in the wind column against a conference rival.

But yeah, certainly we got a lot of baseball coming up and haven't lost anything update besides that Boston game that they rescheduled because it was too cold.

I wish we would have played that, but that's the way it goes.

When you look at the schedule, I mean, you got basically five weeks before, you know, tournament play comes.

It's really packed into a short window, isn't

it?

Yeah, it comes quick, that's for sure.

You know, it's a scramble a lot of times, and you're dealing with a whole bunch of things with arms and stuff, but...

You know, that's why we do these spring trips now to get ourselves conditioned and ready to go.

Because we play a lot of baseball on a short amount of time down there.

And that's what it's about, because that's what we know the rest of the season looks like.

It's time for Southwest Wisconsin Conference Baseball between two longtime rivals, the Prairie Dugene Blackhawks and the Richland Center Hornets.

Prairie Dugene and Coach Padretti coming into the record of two and four.

They are 0-1 in the conference after opening a loss to Lancaster last Friday night while the Hornets were falling to River Valley.

They are playing tonight at Platteville, Richmond Center.

Tonight comes in with a record of 0-1-1 and 0-3 on the season.

I just have received word that it's tonight's game has been canceled because it's too nice.

No, just kidding.

It's a beautiful day and I talked about coaches about that.

Enjoy it while we can because you don't get a lot of 70 degree days in baseball and you may tomorrow and then who knows after that.

But today

Just hats off to everybody that helped a lot of the varsity baseball players, staff, assistant coaches, because I saw a picture of North Park here at 7.30 this morning and it looked like there was a man-made pond out in the center field.

So that's probably the biggest thing here today is the outfield is still a little spongy and it's got a couple of fun spots, but the infield is really immaculate and ready for baseball here today.
