Well the stage is set for the WIA State Girls Basketball Tournament at the Resh Center
in Green Bay, coming up this week, getting underway Thursday afternoon with Usberg playing
Mozeny and Kettle Marine Lutheran against Wisconsin Dells.
That's Division 3, Division 4 at night featuring Neal'sville against Lomira and St. Mary
Catholic against Albany, Monticello.
Division 5 on Friday morning, Eliva Stromb, the number one seed takes on 4th seed Fall
River, and Pachelli, the number two seed, plays third seeded Barnavelle, Barnavelle
back at state for his second year in a row.
Also Division 2 action on Friday afternoon, Rice Lake against Beaver Dam, and Whitefish
Bay plays Elcorn, Division 1 on Friday night, will pit Waowatoshi East to get the
best against Notre Dame, and Arrowhead against Pihuahki.
Championships in all five divisions will be crowned on Saturday.
Boys Basketball is into the sectional semi-finals coming up on Thursday night.
There will be a game right here in Richland Center, third seed Southwestern, plays number
one seed North Crawford at Richland Center High School, Assumption and Cochrane Fountain
City Battle in the other part of the bracket.
Barnavelle will be taking on abundant life Christian at Sun Prairie East High School,
and Shaboygan Lutheran will battle Oakfield at Campbell's Port.
Division 4, number two Cambridge against number one seed Darlington, that's a Dodgeville
Thursday night, while Partyville plays Lomira at Portage in the other part of the bracket.
Division 3 Platville will battle Lancaster, the conference foes will go at it again for
third time this season, this time on a neutral court at Prairie Dushin High School.
And Watertown Luther Prep will take on Lake Mills at Watertown.
Division 2, games include number two seed Mount Horib, against number one McFarland.
That will be played at Evansville High School, and Waowatoshi West plays New Berlin West
at Waukeshaw North, among the games coming up on Thursday night in boys semi-final action.
Champions were crowned the state wrestling team tournament over the weekend.
Division 3 was captured by Aquinas with a 38-32 win over Cedar Grove, Belgium.
Division 2 Evansville was the champion after a 39-29 victory against Coleman, and the Division
1 title went to Calcona as they improved to 26-2 with a 31-26 victory against Coleman.
The SWAL has announced it's all conference boys, basketball teams from this past year.
Darlington won the league title, going 13-1 for the season.
Mineral Point was runner up with a 12-2 record.
First team all conference members from Darlington, Broker Busher, a senior, Mineral Point
seniors, Drew Ashnellman and Keaton Dempsey, Southwestern's Aiden Keller, a senior.
Darlington's Zeke Zuerbiler and writer Fitzsimons, Phenomore's Jude Kinney, from Southwestern
Carson Splinter, Iowa Grants, Sam Lundell and Trayton Level Holes, Cuba City's Hudson
Keeler, and rounding out the first team all conference, Riverdale Jr. Bevin Dennis, who
went over the 1000-point plateau for his Riverdale High School career this past season.
Honorable mention players from Bosque Bell, Kipton Brown, a sophomore, Cuba City's Trevor
Van Natta, Southwestern's Caden Demooth, Jake Creshman, Phenomore and Aiden Patterson, Mineral Point.
The player of the year, Broker Busher of Darlington, the co-coaches of the year, Tom Oppenah
of Darlington and Brett McGraw, Mineral Point.
The SWAL Boys Basketball standings from this past season, the SWAL still has teams involved
in the postseason for the chance to make it to the WIA State Boys Basketball Tournament.
Youth bowling from over the weekend, the series high for the girls, was 475 for Jocelyn
Adams, Abby Weagle had a 348.
Girls High Game, Jocelyn Adams, 172, Abby Weagle with a 121.
Kyle Shediger with a 645 series, led the boys, Eastern Nelson had a 536 and landed West
Fall of 530.
Kyle Shediger with a 246 High Game, landed West Fall with a 215, Caden Keller also rolled
a 215 in youth bowling over the weekend.
The Wisconsin women's team has earned the second seed in the 2026 NCAA hockey tournament.
That status was an out Sunday, the day after the badgers were beaten in the WCHA Tournament
title game, 2-1 by Ohio State.
That showdown was scoreless until Lacey Eden scored a goal at 1002 in the final period.
The buck eyes then came from behind with two goals in the last six minutes.
Wisconsin hosts the winner of Quinnipiac or Franklin Pierce at LaBonne Arena coming
up on Thursday.
In men's basketball, Mark Kent put an exclamation point on a disappointing season by upsetting
fourth rated Yukon Saturday, 68-62.
Huskies coach Dan Hurley was ejected in the final second of the game when he pros-tested
the lack of a foul call from a scramble under the basket.
Freshman Nigel James Jr. led the goal in Eagles with 19 points.
Goal in Eagles end of the regular season with three wins in four games.
They are seeded seventh in the Big East Conference Tournament and will take on Xavier Wednesday.
The badgers set a school record with 18 three pointers while upsetting Purdue Saturday,
97-93.
Coach Greg Gard Squad took down several ranked teams this season while compiling a 22 and
nine record, including 14 and six in Big Ten play.
Gard John Blackwell at five three pointers and led the scoring with 25 points.
Nick Boyd added 23 as Wisconsin play without senior forward Nolan Winter.
The badgers are seeded fifth in the Big Ten Conference Tournament and they will meet
the winner between Washington and USC Thursday afternoon, perhaps around 130.
The backers have made a trade and extended the contract agreement with offensive lineman
Sean Ryan, Green Bay sent defensive tackle Colby Wooden to the Indianapolis Colts for
stand-out linebackers, Zair Franklin.
He's expected to replace Quay Walker.
Ryan emerged as the team starting setter during the 2025 NFL season.
He signed a three-year deal worth $33 million.
Back to basketball, the bucks were beaten yesterday, Milwaukee fell in that daytime
and they, with a score of 130 to 91, they were pasted by Orlando.
Among the highlights, Bobby Portis moves up the list on the all-time buck three-point
shooters.
