High School Girls Basketball: Weston at Ithaca

WRCO Sports · Thu Feb 19, 2026

I am fill me with a look at sports. There's double header basketball tonight at Ithaca.

Weston will play at Ithaca in area boys basketball. The game gets underway at six.

It's a makeup from a game that was called off on January 6th. Ithaca coach Aaron Hipsch talked about his team's win over

Cashton earlier this week.

As the season has gone on, I really like to like to see the progression we've made in that way.

There's a much more balanced scoring attack, which is, you know, it's going to be good for us down the stretch when teams

aren't able to key in on one player. So it's certainly something we look to do and I'm glad it happened.

Let's talk about Devon. I'm breaking that school record that was said just a year ago by Sammy Clary, but boys had a great career, hasn't he?

Yes, and hopefully it's not done any time soon, but he's a very humble kid and didn't really want to talk about it too much.

But no, it is a big deal and he certainly deserves a recognition.

You play Weston. What do you know about them coming in on Thursday night?

Well, I know they're I know they're certainly playing their best ball of the season right now.

That's always going to be a good game in my in my eyes.

Anyways, you're always going to get their best shot and they certainly seem to be playing pretty hard right now.

They have they have some intriguing pieces. They got one very solid player with some size and then some good shooting and ball handling around them.

Ithaca coach Aaron Hipsch is team hosting Weston tonight. We'll have coverage of that one beginning with a pregame around 545.

Other boys games, Bangor at Hillsboro, Woneywalk Center at Royal, Arcadia at Verokua, Cashton at Nesita.

Potosi Castville is at Shoalsburg girls basket all the second game tonight at Ithaca.

Ithaca Weston will take on Seneca and girls hoops. Richland Center will be a prairie to sheen closing out conference and regular season play tonight.

High school girls, wrestlers will hit the sectional level on Friday night across the state.

Locally, most of the girls from our listening area heading to Mineral Point, including Richland Center.

The Hornets with a great contingent heading to sectional, they're coached by Darren Gunderson.

We had a very good weekend. Like I said, the girls come out and they really rustle hard on Friday.

And like I said, we got six out of seven through.

So yeah, they just really formed well and went out and did what they had to do.

But like I said, I think that we didn't draw too bad.

You know, a lot of the girls got some tough draws for us around.

But the rest of them, I think you don't hopefully get through that first round and give them a chance to get to the state tournament.

Coach Gunderson went over the scenarios coming up on Friday night at Mineral Point.

We know we just try to tell them that they can look at the records and they just have to go out and rustle like they have been.

Like I said, everybody's beatable and they do the better day.

So you've got to go out there and hope you have the best day of your career this weekend.

And you go out and you get a few wins and hopefully get to that state tournament to give yourself a chance to get down to the cold center.

How does the format work then at sectional? How does the bracket look Darren?

They run an eat man bracket with, if you lose your first round, you're out.

And then if you get to the semi, you have a chance to come back and rustle for a true second.

So you said it's important to get through that first round.

Otherwise, your night's done.

And how many do they take to state?

They just take two to state from the girls.

Crystal center girls, wrestling coach Darren Gunderson will have coverage with reports coming up tomorrow night.

Again, wrestling begins at four at Mineral Point.

In an attempt to bring the Wisconsin football program back to its former winning ways.

Coach Luke fickle and his staff are bringing on more than 30 new players through the transfer portal.

But that hasn't improved the perception of the talent level on the roster.

The new names lack proven consistent talent.

It will be up to the coaches to try and develop them into winners.

The full NFL 2026 schedule won't be released until May, but it's looking like the Packers won't be playing in Mexico City.
