Over the weekend in Girls Basketball, it was Barnabelle 6744 over Prairie Dushin
on Saturday afternoon, Almond Bancroft beat Kikapoo 64 to 28, and to Forest over Barrel
Boo 68, 44. Richelm Center lost an on conference game against Decora, Hornets will return home
to play again on Tuesday night, Barrelville 66 Prairie Dushin 30, Galena over Lancaster,
81 to 56. Cubicity got the win against Dodgeville, 83, 77 at the Plattville Jamboree, and Plattville
outscored East Abuk, 91, 88 in overtime. Kikapoo suffered a loss in boys basketball
all over the weekend to Readsville 5745, the Panthers win streak to start the season, came
to an end, and Seneca over Tri-County 62-47, middle of a point over Johnson Creek 76-53,
Broadhead beat Albany 56-48, and Lowdye over Readsburg 65-48. Plenty of high school wrestling
in the next several weeks over the weekend, we got our postseason started on the air with
the clash at Richelm Center high school, Bill Twining has more about that great event.
The 37th annual SWAL SWC conference wrestling clash was held Saturday at the Richelm Center
high school field house, and the winner of the team championship wasn't decided until
the final weight class of the tournament. The Lancaster flying arrows won nine of ten
placement matches to eke out a team victory, 160 to 159 and a half over runner up Iowa
Grant Highland. Three pins, a technical fall on a major decision in the upper weights,
help Lancaster to its first clash title since 2013, and came on the heels of the arrows
winning the conference dual meet tournament two weeks earlier.
Individually, 165-pounder Hawken Peterson of Dodgville was named the tournament's most
outstanding wrestler after he became just the 11th wrestler to become a four time champion
of the clash. The first since Zach Lick of River Valley accomplished the feat in 2018.
While Lancaster scored a half point team victory over runner up Iowa Grant Highland,
Mineral Point took third place by a half point over Riverdale, 138 to 137 and a half.
Pervity Sheen was fifth with 126 followed by Belmont, Plattville, Phenomore, Dodgville,
Cubicity Benton, Southwestern, Bosque Bell, Wazika, Stuban in 10th place, and then River
Valley, Richland Center, and Darlington. Riverdale had the most individual champions with three led
by senior Grant Matthews, who took the 285-pound weight class for the second straight year.
Senior Brody Mees came from behind a score of pin in the finals at 138 after finishing second
at the clash three years in a row. Sophomore Wyatt Schram won the 106-pound weight class for
the Chieftains. Junior Lakota Brewer failed to repeat his champion, bested in the finals by Mason
Heard of Prairie to Sheen. Also for Riverdale, Sophomore's Hunter Wilkinson and James Schram
play second and third respectively. Junior Sheen, Rashan of Dodgville became a three time winner
at the clash. A pair of Sophomores became two time champs, Liam Carey of Mineral Point, and
Briggs Wagle of Belmont, Plattville. Senior Dylan Wagle of Belmont, Plattville also won his second
championship, running out the list of individual titleists with Junior Brock Kenderman and Sophomore
Griffin-Wineski of Iowa Grant Highland, Junior Geron Glass-Brenner of Phenomore, and Lentcaster
Upper Wates Nolan Hanky and Toy Raggots. Richland Center had just five wrestlers competing on Saturday,
but three of them placed. Senior Ethan Bindle was third at 215 pounds,
Junior Brock Barrett fourth at 132, and Sophomore Blake Muller fifth at 157.
Junior Ethan Bodendine missed the meat due to injury. River Valley also had a trio of place winners
led by Senior Mason Schulte's second place effort at 144 pounds. Senior Blake Brickle was third
at 190, and freshman Colton Newbauer fourth at 285. Boss Cabell-Wazika Stuban was missing
senior Joe Butter due to illness and had just seven competitors, leading the way with runner-up
efforts where Junior Ashton Yudelhoeven and freshman Ruger Wall, while freshman Canaan
Wetter was fourth at 106. Iowa Grant Highland was paced by champions Griffin-Wineski and Brock
Enderman, while former champion Jackson Bussey was runner-up for the second straight year.
Freshman Wyatt Hoffman was also second for Iowa Grant Highland. Max Kelly and Tanner Degenhardt
were each fourth, and Colton Williams and Ty Cuts both fifth for Iowa Grant Highland.
Mineral point despite missing a few key wrestlers did have eight place in the clash,
leading the way repeat winner Liam Carey, while freshman Tyler Vandra reached the finals at 285 and
placed second. Mason Scullion and Jacob Denenberg each one third place matches for the pointers.
Dodgeville was led by four-time champion Hawkins Peterson and three-time winner Shane Rishan.
Also Retsperley was third, Leo Hansen fourth, and Isaac Vandra fifth. The team hopes to be
bolstered by the return of senior Nathan Johnson in time for the tournament series, which begins in
two weeks. This coming Friday night, February 6th, the SWAL SWC girls wrestling teams will be joined
by teams from the Ridge and Valley and scenic Bluffs conferences, and will wrestle their
combined conference tournament, beginning at six o'clock Friday night at Bosca Bell High School.

and wants to be a buck. Yahu sports quotes Rivers is saying Yana said everything we need to hear.
We will find out how accurate the coach is soon since the trade deadline is Thursday.
With Yana's on the sidelines, the Bucks lost to the Celtics Sunday 107 to 109.
The Badgers top 90 points for the ninth time this season. Well, taking down Ohio State Saturday,
92 82. No previous Wisconsin basketball team had ever topped the 90 mark so many times in a season.
Five Badgers scored in double figures with 22 points from John Blackwell and 21 from Nick Boyd.
Austin rap came off the bench to score 19. Wisconsin was able to erase an 11 point deficit with
a 15 to two run powered by three trays from rap. The program gets a week long rest before traveling
to Indiana on Saturday. Marquette still hasn't managed to win a road game in the Big East Conference
this season. The Golden Eagles couldn't hold the lead while falling 69 64 at Seton Hall Saturday.
Guard Nigel James Jr. led with 16 points. The pirates trailed until about 14 minutes in the game
remained. The score was tied at 60 with just under four minutes to go. The next game for the
Golden Eagles is Saturday at home against Butler. Yesterday in ranked college basketball,
number nine Illinois, over number five Nebraska 78 69 and number 12 Purdue over Maryland 93 63.
Former Packard offensive coordinator Jeff Haffley keeps taking Packard assistance with himself.
NFL Network reporting the linebackers coach Sean Dugan is expected to be the next assistant
to leave Green Bay for Miami. Haffley and Dugan have worked together for most of the past decade
in both college and professional football. They have a big challenge. The dolphins finished in
the bottom 10 NFL teams in both yards and points allowed. Most of the defensive backfield will

Miami Dolphins head coach. Ganon went to 15 and 36 in three years at Arizona. He previously spent two
seasons as the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator. The Eagles had a franchise record
70 sacks and reached the Super Bowl during Ganon's final season in Philadelphia.
