and WRCO.com. I'm Adam Hess. Last night our featured match up was a girl's basketball game.
It featured Riverdale and basketball. Also the red birds of Darlington and the Riverdale
Chieftains made up a boys basketball game last night. Filney has details on both Riverdale won
an SWAL girls basketball game at home over basketball 63 42 on Friday night. The Chieftains
used their best first half of the year and ran out to a 40 to 21 lead. In the second half they
held off any basketball comeback thoughts and they avenged a loss from earlier in the season
suffered to the bulldogs. Riverdale jumped on top with a 32 to nine run in the first half.
They were led in scoring by Macy McKay with 18. Bailey Harris at 11. Ali Goplin made three
three pointers for nine points. Jocelyn Adams had eight points all in the first half. Ava
Krautsenberg scored six. Megan Krell totaled four. Haley Schneider, Lily Barr and Mallory Mies
each had two and Ireland Mies scored one. The Chieftains were eight for 21 from the free throw line.
The bulldogs were led by Addison Rounds with 18. Kylie Johnson scored eight. Aubrey Cep,
six. Maya Bowmeister scored four. Tessa Martin and Mackenzie Tamling each had two.
Boscowbell was 12 for 27 from the line. Chieftains seniors Ali Goplin, Lily Barr, Mallory Mies,
Macy McKay and Megan Krell were honored in a special pregame program. With the win 63 42,
Riverdale is now 10 and nine. The Riverdale girls play at River Ridge on Tuesday night.
Coach Eric Kinney's Boscowbell team is now 7 and 11. They will play at River Valley on Tuesday night.
The Darlington Redbirds rolled to a conference win 86 40 over Riverdale in a boys makeup game
played earlier in the night at the Riverdale Elementary Building. Zeke Zuberbueller had 19 points
and Dante Glenn Denning added 17 for Darlington as they improved to 13 and two for the season.
Riverdale was led and scoring by Owen Blankenship with 16. The Chieftains fell to two and 14

in defeated Riverdale 86 to 40, the Soto 75, Ithaca 63, a win for Royal over Nacita 57 to 30,
Hillsboro 74, Wanywalk Center 49, Brookwood 64 47 over Cacheon, Belmont 86 56 win over Judah,
Toma 99 lacrosse Logan 78, and lacrosse Central over Sparta 73 to 30. We are now going to welcome
WRCO's Filney back to the studio and he has a story of an individual milestone which was accomplished
this week at Riverdale. It's a bit of a rare feat if a high school basketball player hits a
thousand points in their career and they're just a junior in high school that happened for Riverdale's
Bevan Dennis this week. He needed seven in the game against Phenomore to get to a thousand points
and he hit that early in the second half. I talked to Bevan last night about getting over the top
to a thousand. It feels great, you know, I've been pretty close for the last couple of games,
it's kind of been on my mind. I try not to play any different, but it's kind of hard, you know,
and yeah, I'm just finally glad to get it off my shoulders, you know. I was curious whether you
were privy to the information that you were getting close or not, but did that put a little pressure
on yourself or not? Yeah, yeah, it was, I missed a couple of easy shots because of it, probably,
I'd say, you know, yeah, there's a lot going through my head, though, I was pretty rough, yeah.
You had a chance to do this in front of your home fans which is big, I know, and you got a good
support network there, but how do that feel to get over a thousand in a really good game against Phenomore?
Yeah, it felt great, you know, I mean, it's pretty surreal when you look around and everyone's
cheering for you. And yeah, I mean, I don't know, I can't really tell you what I was thinking.
I was kind of, my mind was blank. I was just trying to focus on the game, though, because
it was a pretty tight game and I just really wanted to win. Riverdale Jr. Bevan Dennis,
he is the second Riverdale Boys basketball player to reach a thousand points. Adam Schaefer

take on Decora, Iowa at 4 p.m. Perdishin and Barnerville tip off at one at the Plattville,
Jamboree, the early game Lancaster and Galena at 230 Dodgeville and Cuba City at 4 p.m.
and Plattville and East Dubuque tip at 530 at just a game fieldhouse in Wisconsin, Dells,
Kickapoo and Readsville, they'll battle at 1250, Tri-County and Seneca hit the court at 410.
Johnson Creek at 230, they'll face Mineral Point, Albany Broadhead plays one another,
Lodi and Readsburg will tip off at 2 p.m. In Grills basketball action, during the 9 o'clock hour
Adam's friendship in St. Croix Falls will face off. It's also a 1230, tip time, deforest and
Barabu, Almond, Bancroft and Kickapoo face off at one and Perdishin and Barnerville will play at 230.
High school basketball is not the only sport being played today. We have wrestling action

live here. The all SWAL SWC conference clash will be held today at the Richland Center High
School Field House. This is the 37th annual wrestling tournament where teams from the
Southwest Wisconsin Activities League and the Southwest Wisconsin Conference get together to
stage one of the largest and most competitive conference tournaments in the state.
Mineral Point is the defending champion of the clash, having outdistance the field a year ago,
when Fendimord took the runner-up spot and Iowa Grant Highland, Prairie Dishin and Belmont
Placville comprised the top five of the tournament. The highest showing from our immediate
listening area was an eighth place finish from Riverdale, while River Valley, Richland Center,
and Boschabell-Wazika Stuben were the bottom three of the clash. There were eight individual
champions returning to each from Riverdale, Mineral Point, Belmont Placville and Dodgeville.
Riverdale's returning champs are Senior Grant Matthews and Junior Lakota Brewer.
The Wagle Brothers, Senior Dylan and sophomore Briggs are returning champions from Belmont Placville,
looking for repeat titles or sophomore's Memphisburg culture in Liam Carey of Mineral Point,
and all eyes will be on Dodgeville stalwarts Shane Roshan, a junior looking for his third conference
title at Hawkins Peterson, an unbeaten senior hoping to become just the eleventh wrestler to
become a four-time winner at the clash. The last to do so was Zach Lick of River Valley in 2018.
In addition, Iowa Grant Highland is led by former champ Jackson Bussey, who went on to win a
state title after taking second and last year's clash. Other individuals to watch at the clash
are former conference tournament runners-up, Brock Hinderman and Griffin Weneski of Iowa Grant Highland,
Blake Brickle of River Valley, Rhett Spurley of Dodgeville, Mason Scullion of Mineral Point,
Nolan Hanky of Lancaster, and Prairie Dishane teammates Porter Cosmon and Jack Simmons.
Two others are still looking for their first league title after multiple appearances in conference
championship matches. Junior Hunter read of Prairie Dishane as twice bowed out in the finals,
while Senior Brody Mease of Riverdale is a three-time runner-up at the clash. Closer to home,
Richland Seder return ease are led by Ethan Bindle, who placed fifth in last year's tournament,
and Caden Stibby, who finished sixth. The Schram brothers from Riverdale,
sophomores Wyatt and James each finished fifth a year ago. For River Valley, in addition to
runner-up Blake Brickle, Mason Schulte was fifth in Tylars and sixth, and for Boschabel,
Wasika Stuban, Ashton Yudelhoven was fourth and Job wetter seventh in last year's clash.
Next Friday night, February 6th, area girls wrestling teams will be competing in their
conference tournament at Boschabel, where teams from the SWAL, SWC,
Region Valley, and scenic bluffs conferences will all join together in an event scheduled for
six o'clock next Friday night. Today's 37th annual boys conference clash is slated to begin
soon after nine o'clock this morning as possible at the Richland Center High School Fieldhouse.
