I am Phil Ney with sports, Richesland Center lost a heartbreaker and boys basketball last night.

The Hornets fell to St. Ambrose Academy 55 53 on a buzzer beater.

The game was close all night. A lead of eight was the greatest advantage all evening.

And that was held by the Hornets in the first half. They were up 32 30 and a half time.

The Hornets last lead was 51 50 with a minute 37 left. The Guardians Isaac Morlin made a three-point

basket to put the visitors up 53 51 before the Hornets were able to get a two-point.

Yep, gets away from the defender to the baseline. Makes the shot up good.

Off the glass and down for Jaden Schiff. And it's 53 apiece.

Nine seconds up the sideline Morlin finds Avery knocked away by Darschen out of bounds.

The ball was out of bounds with 4.7 seconds left. After a time out, a pass from Nathan Pitschakowski

to the weak side of the lane caught Nathan A. Bear who laid the ball in at the buzzer

for the win for the Guardians. The Hornets were led in scoring by Jaden Schiff with 16.

While Liam Fingerson added 15 others in the scorebook last night. Deacon Hies with eight.

Kaisen Schwitzenberg and Brady Dosh each had six. While Abe Mosworth and Conner Stoltz each scored two.

Richesland Center made three three pointers and went 4 4 11 from the line.

The Guardians were led by Damien A. Bear with 20 and Adam Stern scored 11.

They made seven three pointers and went two for five from the line.

Richesland Center won the JV-1 contest 55 37 over St. Ambrose.

Following the 55 53 loss, the Hornets are now four and eight in our scheduled host

Plattville on Friday night. St. Ambrose is now 12 and two and they will face

Lake Country Classical Academy at Pfizer for them coming up on Friday afternoon.

Elsewhere last night it was a win for Ithaca over LaFarge 72 63. Devin Aime had 18 for the Bulldogs

and Will Words 22 for LaFarge. Elsewhere, Seneca picks up the win 88 51 over Weston. Isaac

Jennings led with 28 points. It was a victory for North Crawford over Wasika Stuban 91 46

and Kickaboo stayed on beaten with a 10 point win over DeSoto 62 52. It was Cuba's

80 87 Riverdale 46, Phenomore 71, Bosca Bell 28, West Salem will win against Feroqua 80 to 39

and Westby enjoyed a very close win last night over Luther 59 56 River Ridge 60, Ben 10 55,

mineral 0.53 Iowa Grant 52, Darlington over Southwestern 70 to 41. It was Belmont 51, Potosi

In Girls Basketball last night, River Valley over Readsburg 58 48,

Wasika Stuban got the win against Bosca Bell 60 to 42, Lancaster 59, Phenomore 45, Cuba City 64 34

over Prairie Ducine, Bangor 66 Hillsboro 43, New Lisbon 73 50 over Waniwak Center, Royal 37,

Neseeda 19, Cashton Girls 64 45 over Brookwood and Austin beat GET 85 to 36.

There is local basketball today Riverdale and Bosca Bell travel to Milwaukee to play in that

on the baseball Hall of Fame ballot for another year Braun's name was checked on 15 of 425 ballots

good for only 3.5% Braun was one of 12 first time candidates a list that also includes former

brewer pitcher Jill Gonzalez who did not receive any votes and also won't return to the ballot

Braun was welcome into the Brewers Hall of Fame in 2024 I am Filney with an update on sports
