Wisconsin Dells picked up a road win over River Valley 53-42, an area boys basketball
last night.
The Chiefs' aggressive defense kept the Black Hawks off balance.
River Valley did not score a field goal in the game until just over six minutes left in
the first half.
It was 24-16 and half time in favor of the Dells.
Hawks got within 44-40, with around five minutes to play, before the Chiefs went on
a nine-nothing run and went on to improve to five and seven on the season, River Valley
fell to seven and six with the loss.
The Chiefs were led in scoring by Boyd Witt with 17, while Carter Severson had a 12,
Witt made three three pointers and Severson had two, the team shot three for eight from
the foul line.
Jackson Fatcher led River Valley in scoring with 12, including the team's two three-point
baskets.
Lucas Klein added eight, Keegan Heiser six, while Trevor Henkel, Kate and Plumley and
Bryce Ferguson all had four points.
Some their knock-riner had two, the Black Hawks were eight for 12 from the line.
In the JV-1 game, Wisconsin Dells was a winner in a close contest, 51-47 over the Hawks.
Following the 53-42 varsity win, the Chiefs will prepare to return to conference play
with a game against Adam's Friendship Thursday night, River Valley will get back to Southwest
Conference Action on Friday at home against Lancaster.
Highland picked up the win and boys basket ball over Weston, 89-59, Isaac Jennings led
the silver eagles with 29 points, Jacob Keller added 17.
A win last night for Cubicity Overland Caster, 68-66, LaFarge Youth Initiative, 56-52 over
in Nassita, Royal 56, Westby 53, Bangor 84, Cashton 54, the Ithaca-Ed Brookwood game
was postponed.
Girls Basketball Riverdale got a much-needed non-conference victory defeating Wonny
Walk Center 70-45 last night.
Macy McKay led all scores with 24, including 15 in the second half.
Juniors Haley Schneider and Ava Kratzenberg each tallyed career highs with 12 and eight
points, respectively, senior Ali Goplin scored seven, while Jossi Adams and Bailey Harris
each added six, Kate Mi scored four, and Lily Barr three to round out the scoring.
The Lady Chiefs will be in action again Thursday night when they host Southwestern to begin
the second half of conference play, the Chiefs approved to seven and eight overall with
the victory.
Johnson Caster was a winner against North Crawford 89-7, Kick Up Who 48, Black Hawk 39.
The Ithaca Weston at Brookwood Game was postponed, also a win last night for Highland of
Rebellumot 43-39, Dodgeville 69, Iowa Grant 29, Darlington 57, Newgleris 47, Potosi
Castville 41-40 over River Ridge, Minimal Point, Beat Sock Prairie 48-42.

The Packers are in the market for a new defensive coordinator after the departure of a system
coach Jeff Halfley, who was hired by the dolphins, he will be the head coach.
Halfley's efforts have given Green Bay its most effective defensive efforts in recent
seasons.
Over the last two years, the Packers were 12th in total defense and 11th in scoring defense
during the recently completed season.
Halfley replaces Mike McDaniel as the dolphins head coach.
In football last night from the college scene Fernando Mendoza bulldozed his way into
the in zone and Indiana bullied its way into the history books, the Hoosiers toppled
Miami 27 to 21 to put the finishing touch on a rags to riches story and undefeated
season and a national title.
It was a win last night in front of 67,227 fans at Hard Rock Stadium, including one of
the most surprising turnarounds in college football history for Indiana.
In basketball news from yesterday Yada South and a Cumpo had 21 points, 17 rebounds and
the Milwaukee Bucks snapped a three game losing streak holding off the Atlanta Hawks, 112-110
after squandering a 23 point lead in the second half.
The Hawks lead 105-104 on Jalen Johnson's three pointer before dropping their fourth
in a row in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day game.
Bobby Portis hit a three, Johnson turned the ball over and Janis powered inside for a
basket that made it 109-105 with 36 seconds to go.
The Hawks still had a chance, but CJ McCullough missed a chance to tie it before the buzzer.

Marquette Freshman Nigel James Jr scored a career high 38 points, but it was Ben Gold's
free throw at overtime that produced a 105-104 win over Providence.
The friars trail the big east game by 10 at halftime, but were up by three with two seconds
left in regulation.
James was fouled on a three point attempt and made good at all three free throws.
Marquette is back in action on Friday.
They will be at Butler.
One other news now just in former Packers coach Mike McCarthy is ready to go back to work
after taking a year off.
ESPN reports McCarthy as an interview with the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.
He has already talked with the Titans.
McCarthy was idle this past NFL season after being fired by the Dallas Cowboys.
The 62 year old coach led Green Bay for 13 seasons.
