
I am Phil Ney with a look at sports today. The Richland center girls basketball team picked up a 49-23 win over
Portage last night. At home, the Hornets went on a 16-nothing run of points during the last minutes of
the first half and during the first six minutes of the second half and built a lead they would not give
up. The team improved to three and twelve overall with the win. They have a makeup game Thursday night
at home against Logan and a conference game Friday when they host Prairie Dushin.
The Hornets were led and scoring by L.A.V. Weiss and Ella Clements, which netted twelve.
Kylie Burns made two three pointers and ended with eleven points. Taylor words contributed six.
Jory Schultz four. Ava Martin scored a three pointer and Lily Lassike had one point.
The team was twelve for seventeen from the line. Portage fell to two and nine with the loss.
McKenna Kirkendall made three three pointers and ended with eleven points to lead the Warriors.
The JV-1 game belonged to Portage as they won the early contest 30-24 over the Hornets.
Once again, the varsity final was Richland Center 49 and Portage 23 in non-conference girls basketball.
elsewhere, a win for Royal 53-24 in Ellroy last night. They defeated Ithaca Western,
Lancaster 66, Southwestern 24. A win for Mauston over Hillsboro 89-72 and
Wazika Stuban over Varroqua 67-47. In high school, boys basketball last night,
Riverdale, Owen against Waniwak Center 69-47, Bevan Dennis 25, Owen Blankenship scored 21 for
the Chieftains. Boschabell 39, LaFarge 33. Ithaca over Wazika Stuban 60-39. Devon I'm had 18,
Ethan Berkram 14. Cody Burns 13. Houston Bowlin 12. For a balanced attack.
