There's boys basketball in the area tonight.
River Valley gets back to school today,
and they have a game coming up tonight.
The Hawks will be hosting Broadhead.
I spoke with coach Luke Thatcher.
We have had a great break.
This is probably the most time that we've given kids off
with the game last Monday.
And Christmas falling on the Thursday,
we gave them a full week off, actually.
And came back to practice on Monday.
Healed up a little bit, got healthy again.
And we've had a few days of really good practice here,
starting off the tail end of the break.
Well, certainly some big games coming up
because you really hit the ground running right away
on January 2nd.
That's probably a challenge to come back and play Friday, isn't it?
It will be.
I think that's a game that they're going to be a hungry team.
I think they're still searching for their first win.
But they, you know, to come back, the first day
that we're back at school to have a game that evening,
that's going to be a long day for the kids
and for the coaches, I'm sure.
But, you know, at this time of year,
we get the games in when we can get them in.
That was a laid-at and, you know, both teams,
I think it's less than ideal.
But, well, anytime we can get a game in,
especially with the winter we've had so far, we'll take it.
But the Valley will be hosting.

Trinidad Shameless,

in a college football playoff quarter final in the sugar bowl.
Fernando Mendoza,
through three touchdown passes,
Indiana's defense thoroughly throttle Alabama,
and the top-seated Hoosiers
roared into the college football playoff semi-finals
with a 38-3 victory in the 112th Rose Bowl.
Also, Oregon dominated Texas Tech
with a 23-nothing victory

It was for Oregon the first shutout

Elsewhere in sports,
former Badger-wide receiver,
Shimmeri DK,
has set the NFL record
for all-purpose yards in a season by a rookie,
with 40 kick-return yards,
55 receiving yards,
and seven rushing yards in his team's game
against the Saints Sunday.
He moved past the mark set by
pro football Hall of Fame wide receiver Tim Brown.
DK goes into the 2025 NFL season finale
with 2,317 all-purpose yards.
Packers coach Matt LaFloris says
Jordan Love will only play in Sunday's game
against the Vikings if he's needed as a backup.
LaFloris will start Clayton Tune
in the final regular season game.
Minnesota is a six and a half to seven
and a half point favorite.
Love was a full participant,
and Malik Willis was limited in Thursday's practice.
Tune was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2023,
and has made one NFL start,
completing 11 of 20 passes
with two interceptions and a fumble in the shutout loss.
Travon Diggs, who was claimed off waivers earlier
in the week, might play Sunday,
but it's not necessarily likely.
Yesterday, Malik Willis was asked about to his health,
and as he gets ready for the playoffs,
and he talked about if there is a revenge factor
to meet the Bears again or play the Eagles?
Not at all, honestly.
I feel like those are separate.
Obviously, when next year comes around
and division's play gets started,
we'll be thinking about that,
trying to get a little revenge then,
but in the playoffs, it's winter, go home,
and it doesn't matter who you play.
All you want to do is be in because at the end of the day,
anybody has a shot after that.
And I think that's more important,
just going out there and trying to get a dud.

College basketball yesterday, right state,
got the win against Milwaukee 76 to 70.
Also, the women's team from Wisconsin
with a 70 to 63 victory over Rutgers.
Tonight's schedule, Charlotte plays at the Milwaukee Bucks,
and also this weekend, Saturday's schedule
in college basketball,
Plattville, it's stout, River Falls at the cross,
O'Claire at Stevens Point,
and Oshkosh at Whitewater.
And Utility River Falls plays for
the NCAA Division III Championship.
That's coming up on Sunday night.
