The wrestling season is well underway for River Valley, first year head coach Shane Legal

has been pleased overall with the way it's gone. We first started out at Readsburg

duels as a team and the dual tournaments always always nice in a sense of we get

we get together and we're not just wrestling for ourselves you know we're

wrestling for our team and so we picked up a couple wins there and we got to see

some some good matches where kids kind of rallied behind each other so that one

stands out to me and we're just yeah we're looking forward to the next couple

weeks here. Rich little invitation was one of those that it's a good gauge at this point in

the season to see where you're at isn't it? Absolutely yeah we're looking forward to it

you know we're coming up here we got a couple duels on Thursday and then Rich

and Center on Saturday a couple of the teams we have seen already this year so we're

looking to maybe avenge some some losses earlier in the season but there also are a lot of

teams we haven't seen so you know nice close tournament for us but just another one another

opportunity and that's kind of the biggest thing I've been preaching this year is it's just an

opportunity you know and whether it's a win or a loss it's is some some place where we can go out

have some fun and try to just put points on the board. Sure what about numbers how's the program

looking this year? Yeah we're you know for males or men we're right around 20 and for women we have

six or so out I will say it's something that we're struggling with with our lightweights you know

we have a couple four fits in our lightweights and still working on it you know there's a couple

kids coming up now and then we're we're doing our best to fill that as well as as girls we just had

two new girls come up here this week so it's kind of a continuous improvement you know always can

be better though. River Valley wrestling coach Shane Legal his team will be among the teams at the

annual Richland Vittational Wrestling tournament which gets underway with action at nine o'clock Saturday

morning at the Richland Center high school fieldhouse. Church League volleyball this week Monday night
