WRCO Sports · Wed Dec 10, 2025

I'm Phil Ney with look at Southwestern Wisconsin sports last night's featured game on WRCO is postponed until December 22nd

Richland Center at Riverdale girls basketball Richland Center girls coach Jeremy Kui talked about his team's recent games

I was put the week last week at think we're we're about to that point where we're gonna jump over that hurdle

We have a little bit banged up. So we're not a little bit Friday night, which I heard us

But we're we got everybody back this week. We're back healthy again. So

Excited for the the two matchups. We have this week against Riverdale and Hodgeville to

Go on to we can do yeah

He just never know from night to night, you know injuries and sickness this time of year

That's why sometimes these early scores are kind of deceptive, aren't they it is we you know

That's one of the joys of coaching is you never know what message you're gonna get that a girl sick or somebody

You know maybe got banged up and they didn't we didn't know about it whether it's on the JV or the varsity level

So, you know, we're constantly adapting and working with the girls that we have, but it's it's good to see them all there

Every day putting in the work so that you know when somebody does fall we just

Build the plan for the next game and move forward. I know Lancaster was able to put a lot of pressure on you know that

That's a tough one is cast especially with a young team to try and break those those pressures, isn't it?

It was it was rough. I mean they I

My hat was off the Lancaster. I mean those girls were athletic and they were all over the court and they

Kind of rate tack for us

But you know even using that from Friday night to adapt, you know even in practice yesterday to hear some some tweaks that we can make to how we're gonna approach

When we get those teams that do unapply more pressure so that you know

Hopefully we don't go through that again like we did Friday night. Where's the center girls coach Jeremy Cooey Larry Swiggum's

Riverdale team also split the week last week

It's still early as a coach. Maybe not ever happy, but

Definitely we pulled on a nice win on the road down in Southwestern

Played a really sloppy first half, but we're able to put some things together in the second half and play a little more clean game

So we're happy with that. We'd like to get some consistency

Obviously it's still early in the years six games in, but we'd like to see a little more consistency both on the offense and defense side of the ball

But yeah overall, you know being four and two right now and back to 500 in conference

Kind of right where we expected to be

We got three home games here in the next two weeks and hoping to get on a little bit of roll

Riverdale coach Larry Swiggum both Riverdale and Richland center will have conference games coming up later this week

And again that game from last night moved to Monday, December 22nd

But again a reminder today is the deadline day

Due to weather conditions last night Richland center church league volleyball matches were postponed

The league is only half game, but at least one analyst thinks the packers will finish where they are today in first place in the NFC North

Bleach report analyst Maurice Moton says green Bay is clearly the best in the conference

rating coach mantle florist team 4th best in the NFL overall the packers are 6th in points per game allowed and 10th in points per game scored

The four games remaining in the regular season are strong tough games though

The Broncos bears Ravens and Vikings all will be coming up on the green Bay schedule

Indianapolis Colts have signed 44 year old Philip rivers to the practice squad

A person with knowledge of the deal told the associated press

Rivers took his last NFL snap with the Colts in a playoff loss following the

2020 season he announced his retirement in January of 2021

The move comes less than 24 hours after Colts coach Shane striken confirmed indie starting quarterback Daniel Jones

Would miss the rest of the season with a torn right Achilles tendon and at backup Riley Leonard injured his right knee

So they've called on the veteran Philip rivers at 44 to at least be on the practice squad just in case

The Wisconsin men's basketball team travels to Nebraska to take on the undefeated corn huskers tonight

The Huskers are still high on the win with a 71 50 blasting of craten last weekend

They carry a nine and all record and are led by rank masked whose averaging 18 points and six rebounds per game

Badgers guard john blackwell has been named big 10 player of the week after scoring 56 wins total

Invictories against northwestern and marquette coach drag guard talked about playing on the road in these big 10 games

Well, you want to get off to a good start no matter who you're playing or where you're playing right those first

10 possessions are important in order to get your footing

Established what you want to establish and there's some there's some feeling out a little bit

There's a little sparring going on just trying to figure out how teams are going to play different parts of the floor

Tip off time tonight eight o'clock pregame time 7 30 on WRC E FM 107.7 and AM 1450

The bucks will be back into action tomorrow night against fillet alphia

Coach sock rivers talked about what they've worked on this week during practice

Just getting back to some basics

Defensively

You know, and then some of our offensive spacing stuff

So that I thought you know, you have slippage doing a season

I thought we had a good chance of working on it today

We'll work on it again tomorrow just to get more organized

Elsewhere the two Wisconsin football players who are known to enter the transfer portal

Have been announced there could be more the portal officially opens January 2nd running back

Cade yaka melee and linebacker tack at Curtis have announced their plans to leave

Both have one year of eligibility remaining

And the brewers are looking ahead to the future manager pat murphy was interviewed during the winter meetings

Which are going on in florida he was asked about the brewers brand of baseball and what makes them successful

We're just kind of doing whatever we got to do to to win the game

You know, I mean, however we need to get the runner to the next base or however we need to line up our pitching

We just do what we got to do and it's been interpreted as we're playing old school baseball or we're playing this certain type

But if you don't hit homers as much you don't have guys that have that track record of doing that

And they don't understand it yet. You do what you got to do

Broder manage your pat murphy and that's a look at sports. I am fill me
