WRCO Sports · Fri Dec 5, 2025

I'm Phil Ney with a look at Southwestern Wisconsin sports.

The Ithaca boys basketball team won a non-conference battle against Riverdale,

67-52 last night. The visiting Bulldogs jumped to a 12 point lead, 40 to 28 and half time,

and maintained it despite a comeback by the chieftains that pulled them to within four points,

44-40 in the second half. Bulldog senior Devon, I'm let all scores with 27 points.

Also Cody Burns scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half for Ithaca.

When he came off the bench to hit three-three pointers, Houston Bullin added 11,

Caden Keller 8, Ethan Berkram and Sam Jones each had four points. Ithaca struggled

at the free throw line making eight of 23 attempts. Riverdale was faced by junior

Bevan Dennis, who had 17, including three-three pointers. Owen Blankenship scored 14,

Henry Dron, totaled 11, and Real Gantula, totaled eight, and Landon Kenyon hit two free throws.

The chieftains were 6-4-10 from the line. The Bulldogs won the JV game, 60-48 over Riverdale.

Lancaster playing at Richland Center. The Hornets are coming off their first win of the season,

a victory against North Crawford earlier this week. I ask Coach Jeremy Kui of the Hornets

about that win for Richland Center. It was definitely a huge win for us to get that first one

of the season and kind of knocked the dust off the rim and finally get to scoring where we need to

be. Yeah, you had a pretty balanced attack that night, didn't you? Yeah, it was nice. I mean,

we're glad Ella Clements had her breakout game, so it was good to see her play up to her level.

And then, you know, outside of that, we had really had pretty bells scoring across the boards.

It was really nice to see other girls all come together and play the other night.

could be out of action for up to four weeks with a strained calf, ESPN reported the result

following an examination. This is the second time the two-time MVP has been sidelined with an

injury, so far Milwaukee has a 2 and 5 record with its top player not playing. Despite multiple

reports, Bucks coach Doc Rivers is disputing the idea that Yana says ask the team to trade him.

Jamar Gibbs and the Detroit Lions have beaten the Dallas Cowboys to help their playoff chances.

Gibbs ran for three touchdowns last night. 44-30, the win 40-Troyd, Gibbs final score was a 13

yarder with 2-19 left that sealed a much-needed win for the Lions. Detroit avoided losing consecutive

games for the first time in more than three years. The Cowboys had surged into postseason contention

with a three-game winning streak. But against the Lions, the NFL's top-ranked offense had to

lean on powerful kicker Brandon Aubrey too much, and Dallas' revitalized defense was humbled.

The Packer's practice outside an 11-degree weather Thursday, getting acclimated to conditions

expected for a Sunday, starting safety Javon Ballard was limited at practice because of an ankle injury.

Or to hit coach Jeremy Kui talked to us this week about the Landcaster flying heroes.

They're a good team.

They're going to play quick, you know, they're going to, they're going to look to get

this deals and run the court.

They have a few pretty good three point shooters, but do you know, kind of taking a look

at them?

They're looking at a, looking at a one, three, one defense, and so we just have to be smart

with the ball and hit the open spots in the zone.

Richland Center hosts Landcaster among a number of various Girls Basketball games this

evening.

And we'll be on the air with the Vittesnik Power Sports pregame show around 715, and

then it's the Hornets and the arrows in area Girls Basketball.

I'm Filney.

Bucks superstar, Janice Antitacupo, could be out of action for up to four weeks with

a strained calf, ESPN reported the result following an examination.

This is the second time this season, the two-time MVP has been sidelined with an injury.

So far Milwaukee has a two and five record with its top player not playing.

Despite multiple reports, Bucks coach, Doc Rivers is disputing the idea that Antitacupo

has asked the team to trade them.

The Packers practiced outside in an 11-degree weather yesterday, getting acclimated to the

conditions expected for Sunday.

Starting safety, Javon Bullard, was a limited participant with an ankle injury, I should

say.

Defensive ends, Lucas Van Ness, and receivers, Sabian Williams, missed practice while four

players who were out for last week's game against Detroit have returned.

Defensive lineman Carl Brooks, defensive back, Nate Hobbs, receiver Matthew Golden,

and linebacker Quay Walker returned to the practice field yesterday for the second

straight time.

In college football, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin have mutually agreed to cancel their scheduled

2026 matchup.

The two teams were scheduled to face off at Wisconsin on September 19th.

Instead, we'll host Eastern Michigan on that day.

Wisconsin and Pitt are still scheduled to play each other in Ireland.

The game will take place August 28th, 2027 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
